Have you all tried Luanti? I've randomly stumbled upon it when I was looking for open source games for Android. I'm not a Minecraft player so I can't tell if it's any good.
I tried it maybe a year ago. It works as a sandbox, but it's kind of empty compared to Minecraft and the environments are much less varied. There's just a lot more to do in Minecraft.
I tried it a few times and did not like it very much. Like lots of open source games it was not all that well designed and lacked identity and direction. As the other person said, it might be a fun sandbox though.
I'm not sure I understand you.
Java edition is also developed by Mojang/Microsoft and is basically identical to the bedrock edition in core features.
It was the original Minecraft edition, and if you remember playing Minecraft 10 to 15 years ago it would likely be the Java edition you were doing it on.
They asked about Luanti and my comment was about that
My bad sorry, I completely misread what your comment was replying to!
On the subject of Minecraft alternatives, I haven't tried it myelf but Vintage Story seems pretty interesting. Started life many years ago as a Minecraft mod and is now it's own thing.
