Fast charging can damage your cat.

[–] MagisterSieran@discuss.tchncs.de 19 points 2 weeks ago

My experience is that if my cat charges too fast, she will fix the problem by immediately discharging all over the carpet.

My female cat: First, middle, honorific, family names, two titles of nobility.

"Aquila Falconis Irownpaw PortmanteauOfOwnerSurnames, First of her name, Leidan of (place we used to live when she was adopted), Queen of the Andals and First Men."

Neighbor's male cat: "Other Cat"

I used to have a cat with the middle name Ironpaw, never thought I'd see that again.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What! Where'd you get the name from? I was reading ASOIAF at the time, so that's how ours got the fancy name.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Commander Ironfist from the Lightbringer Series by Brent Weeks.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Funny. Mine was from Longclaw, one of the ASOIAF swords, that became Ironclaw, which sounded not quite right. Since her pads and kitten nails were dark, it sort of morphed in to Ironpaw.

Huh...so maybe she's not first of her name after all.

The Fabulous Staredycat Sisters are named after authors. Specifically the Brontë sisters Charlotte and Emily 😁

Edit: bizarre Heliboard autocorrect of "Staredycat" to "job" fixed

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 23 points 2 weeks ago

My (female) cat's name is Leuce. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leuce_(mythology)

She's all white and we found her at 2 weeks old by a tree.

Our male cat is Bruce. My sister volunteers at a cat rescue and they had a litter of kittens come through that were all black. I didn't name him. I wasn't planning on adopting but how could I possibly turn up having a yin and yang set of cats with rhyming names lmao. He's super chill and loves his belly rubbed.

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You tell us about this little angel and post no photos?

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago

Her name is actually Salem. :)

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

I miss my Enchirito.

[–] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Miss Misa Misa is old, yes, but calling here ancient seems uncalled for. But I guess the goddess part is not too far from reality. All baby beds are belong to her!

She's gorgeous 😍

My sister's cat was named by a 5-year-old, so for no apparent reason that I can make out, his name is Zanzibar.

[–] veroxii@aussie.zone 14 points 2 weeks ago

That's a pretty good name though.

[–] FooBarrington@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Zanzibar... forgive me

[–] Whelks_chance@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

I'm not gonna cook it but I'll order it from Zanzibar.

Meet my cats: Enchirito, Big Burrito, and Mexican Pizza.

[–] perishthethought@piefed.social 6 points 2 weeks ago

My girl cat is named Willow.

My son's boy cat is named Philly Cheese Steak, so not that far off from the TB menu. ✅

[–] jack_of_sandwich@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 2 weeks ago

I named my cats Xena (Warrior Princess Kitty), and Frodo

Xena was a fighter, she was the boss, lived up to her name.

Frodo is a fluffy little doof, who just wants to sleep and eat. Like a hobbit.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Nubby? Where are you?

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

My cats are

  • Maze (because she has stripes and I have a maze tattooed on my back and I figured naming her thus would increase my resemblance to a Batman villain)
  • Hex (got her at the same time as Maze but she doesn't really have distinct physical features that would inspire a particular name, so I named her Hex, short for Hexadecimal)
  • Ripley (I don't actually remember why we named her that, but it was inspired by Alien)

My boy cats were named Aristotle and Galileo, and my dog was Kepler. So, I call bs.

[–] linkinkampf19@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I'll have to add photos later, but we have Wolfgang and Riley, named after two characters in Sense8, and Phil, named by his foster after the rugrat. They all live up to their names. Riley is reclusive and chill tho not an Icelandic DJ. Wolfgang is loud and a bit mouthy, but no rocket launcher. Phil, he's got the zoomies way more than his namesake.

[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago

My boy cat is also named after an ancient god
