Still waiting on game of thrones and breaking bad.
I was really into reading the books of game of thrones just around the time they started produce the TV series.
My wife had been burned before, she said she wouldn't start reading them until the guy finished writing the whole series... We're still waiting George!
The last seasons of Game of Thrones were total garbage compared to what they delivered when they had the books to lean on.
Breaking Bad is great all the way. I would also like to recommend Vikings. The spin-off is not as good as the first one.
Vikings very quickly turns into a gore-fest.
Thank you for helping me decide whether or not to watch that one.
There's only 4 seasons of Game of Thrones, sadly.
Both of those would have been my example. I watched them years later, maybe two years ago. I liked them both.
Patient gamers, assemble! (at your own leisurely pace).
Maybe next year. Currently trying to get a classic with (some weird engine) via it's native implementation to run.
Beat Bioshock Infinite a couple weeks ago... breaddy güd :)
I found that I liked the earlier Bioshocks more than Infinite, personally. It was good though. Elizabeth is the GOAT gold standard for persistent non-player companions, she never once felt like the escort quest that she technically is.
If you're a fan of the series, check out System Shock too. It's cool to see where the roots come from and they're great games on their own. Shock 1 is a little (okay, a lot) crusty by modern standards but the remake kicks ass. Shock 2 I think still stands on its own merits once you get used to it and has a pretty robust modding scene to make your own remake if you're so inclined.
If it's any good at all, it never goes out of style.
I just watched season 1 of Stranger Things. Pretty good. Don't think I'll watch any more.

2016 - when I went to a Redditor event at a tech company, and the next day, got a email begging people to chip in money to pay for a bunch of shit that was broken/stolen.
The redditor events I've been to have always been at public places because redditors ya know? But to host it at a tech company and not expect the worse out of people?
I finally listened to Gangnam style.
Fuck that shit slaps.
I was singing it in my head for like two months, unable to share with others how amazing it is.
It has a great beat. The music video is both awesome and terrible.
I never paid more than 80€ for any phone. Life is great (and super affordable) a decade behind the hype.
I buy used phones for $200 which last three years, and I pay $10 USD a month for service.
My brother gets the newest phone every year, and pays $80/month?

And then there's me, refusing to consume media partly because of the unfortunate reasons and consequences of it being popular (namely, the shady business conglomerates pushing pop culture as a reason, and the harmful people they end up turning popular as a consequence)
I have a (snobbish?) variant of this: If things are super popular I'm not really interested in it (Harry Potter, GoT, etc.).
I'm this way too. I have very limited free time, but I also can't stand hype. Nothing ever really lives up to it, so I prefer to check things out after the buzz has died down
That's not what I meant, though. If it's popular I'll never care, I'm not gonna wait til people have moved on amd then check out, I'm just not interested in many popular things.

I watch a lot of movies but I rarely watch contemporary ones. There is over a century of films that have stood the test of time. Why risk watching one that won't?
