I'm really glad you so effectively censored the word b*ttom, I wouldn't want my poor innocent eyes to be exposed to the top-right pixels in the letter o

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 65 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That’s not a censor, that’s his anus.

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago

So tight... 😏

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It's engagement bait and you're falling for it

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 37 points 1 week ago

I'm sure they're very excited about their Lemmy metrics

[–] s@piefed.world 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Please explain to us how the Threadiverse algorithms promote content that receives either more comments or more direction-agnostic voting activity, and how this isn’t just OP being lazy and not selecting an uncensored version of the meme that they found on a site which has either those factors or which does reduce the visibility of posts with taboo words in

[–] exasperation@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

Attention seeking and validation seeking are baked into human personalities to varying degrees, and plenty of behavior predating social media (and even the internet) was motivated by those tendencies.

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I never claimed it was, I was just referring to the original intent with which the half censor was placed on the image.

Being the CEO of your own company really isn't a guarantee of much, though.

If he sais something like "CEO of a fortune 500 company", that would be a bit different.

[–] etchinghillside@reddthat.com 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Neither is a entry level software engineer.

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 week ago

'entry' level alright

[–] nyctre@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's not just any company, it's a law firm 10 years after founding...Yeah, it could be a law firm that's barely scraping by in some village with 3 other law firms, but I highly doubt it. Plus it's a joke. The punchline is that the person is loaded.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

But time doesn't mean growth, necessarily. A whole lot of companies are one man businesses, which don't even plan to grow.

Hell, basically being an uber driver means you're an entrepreneur with your own company, but slogging around drunks and pizzas all over town for 10 years doesn't really improve the situation.

The punchline is that the person is loaded, yeah, but it doesn't follow from the premise, and that's kinda my point. It hasn't been set up properly, see?

"Your earthly riches hold no appeal to me."

"$20,000."

"Ree-hee-hee-ally?"

[–] de_lancre@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

$20k

Real question is: do I bring my own lube or not?

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 48 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Programmers pre and post 2023

[–] python@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (3 children)

wait I'm out of the loop, what happened in 2023? My first full time software engineer job started in January 2023 so I might have missed whatever it was?

I'm almost there, the fourth panel is getting close enough that I can smell it. In ten years I'll be there for sure, maybe five.

“All my life, I have loved this land; worked it with my hands…”

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 12 points 1 week ago

Lots of layoffs

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

this is when the covid subsidies disappeared so companies started firing everyone.

Then the AI investments, and then just layoffs for fun.

It's all fine and dandy until the top comes back home and finds you lounging on the couch instead of cooking and then you get flogged raw.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's supposed to be a problem?

[–] Rooty@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

That just sounds like abuse.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Granted, you may reside at the bottom of my house.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Are we talking basement or do i have to crawl everywhere

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

My current house only has a crawl space.

I love this house, but I do miss having a basement, especially whilst accommodating denizens such as yourself.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I'd rather reside in your walls.

What messaging app is this? Nice UI

[–] Gonzako@lemmy.world 43 points 1 week ago (1 children)

it's the Republican app grindr

[–] dutchkimble@lemy.lol 4 points 1 week ago
[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

More like ass-perations

If there'd been enough of a time delay to check the unemployment numbers on new graduate software engineers this would be perfect

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

What's a hetero housetop? A bum? Seems ironic, no?

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 3 points 1 week ago

Should have spelt it asspirations surely

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

This happened almost verbatim in Doctor Who.

edit: Also, I'm guessing this isn't actually you, but the color scheme is reminiscent of LCARS.

[–] Zaplinaki@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sir the color scheme is called grindr

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I wonder whether they were inspired by Star Trek.
