Members of rightwing base disorientated by cordial Oval Office meeting – but not all Trump supporters downcast

A flurry of social media posts from MAGA influencers have laid bare the disorientation felt by members of Trump’s base at the spectacle of Friday’s cordial Oval Office meeting with Mamdani, who the president previously painted as a “communist lunatic”.

“Wild to allow a jihadist communist to stand behind the president’s desk in the Oval Office. Sad to see,” wrote far-right activist Laura Loomer, one of Trump’s most fervent online backers.

She returned to the theme several times. “I had to drink a bottle of ginger ale today after seeing Mamdani in the Oval Office because it physically nauseates me seeing Islamic jihadists infiltrate our government and continue to get a pass to promote Islamic jihad and anti-American values with zero push back,” Loomer wrote.

It's hilarious to see them realise that he's a fucking idiot

Having said that, didn't they often say 'I like him because I can relate to him"?

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That, and they like how he’s gangster.

Gangster?

That fat, weak little bitch would last five seconds amongst actual men who live in the real world

To be fair, it's strongly suspected that Trump had extensive ties to the New York Mafia.

I mean, Jesus Christ, he was a real estate developer in New York in the '70s and '80s. There's no possible way he wasn't in bed with the mob.

Say what you will about Trump, he's probably closer to gangster than like 99% of us.

and Guiliani cleared the path for him to grow in NY with Cohen and his mob buddies.

Me hanging around geniuses hasn't made me any smarter

He's a pansy little bitch

Laura Loomer needs to accidentally fall into a wood chipper.

[–] arin@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

[–] ToastedRavioli@midwest.social 32 points 1 week ago

"Literally Osama."

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 1 week ago

And the funny thing is that after the meeting Mamdani still publicly says that morning changed and he stands behind what he said about him.

[–] Corporal_Punishment@feddit.uk 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wait, is he an Islamic Jihadist or a radical communist?

They aren't the same thing......

[–] VoodooAardvark@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 week ago

Well you see the definition doesn’t matter for the folks who just use them as stand-in’s for “un-American”.

It's fair to say both sides are very confused about how it went down.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I’m curious to know what happened but, as a sane person who understands and accepts that Trump’s mental state is in complete disarray, I’m not exactly confused.

For all the people who still believe that Trump is a super strong, super smart, all-American mega patriot who loves capitalism and hates brown people this must be bewildering. And with all the jokes about him swooning over Mamdani I mean damn, their MAGA leader being in love with a muslim, african immigrant man must be breaking them.

[–] mcv@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 week ago

It's been clear for some time that Trump must be very easy to manipulate if you know how to approach him. But most people end up debasing and humiliating themselves to win Trump over.

The way Mamdani won over Trump, who previously hated him and saw him as a massive threat, while keeping his dignity and even getting permission to call Trump a fascist, you can't deny that's spectacular. Even if you know it should be theoretically possible, it's amazing to see someone actually do it. Especially someone as leftwing as Mamdani.

But that means he knows how to package his message, how to appeal to people and how to win them over. It would be amazing if Mamdani could also win over the many working class Trump voters in the US.

They'll go silent for a few days, then cognitively dissociate from this and him blowing clinton, then resume regularly scheduled xenophobic programming. Hate is easy and engrained. We were screwed before long covid docked everyone down to room temp IQs... now? Now it's a race to the bottom.

TL;DR: Ow, my balls! (Brought to you by Brawndo -- it's got what plants crave!)

[–] Damage@feddit.it 9 points 1 week ago

They're getting ready to pick Trump's carcass apart

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 7 points 1 week ago

This article gives a platform to a bunch of bigoted islamophobes.

The majority of US Americans want to stop the Israeli genocide.

He has two occupations: grifting and being a hype-man. This fits with him being a hypeman
