My bookmarks are a hole that have followed me for decades and I don't even know what's in there anymore. The way I keep track of things is either by keeping a tab open, or my own memory (which absolutely should not be trusted). Far too often I just type the first three letters of the URL into the address bar and it auto-completes, but I never notice if it's completing from my bookmarks or my history.

RSS for feeds. Bookmarks for tools I want to come back to. And a reference manager (with snapshots) for archiving articles, guides and that kind of stuff, organized in themes. I use Zotero for that.
