I don't understand. You're a boat in real life?

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

One "Klasse 212" submarine would solve a lot of problems.

[–] GorGor@startrek.website 4 points 3 hours ago

according to the Wikipedia page, only 13 problems could be solved.

A total of 13[35] heavyweight torpedoes of type DM2A4 Seehecht can be carried.

Unfortunately I see a lot more boats than that.

"Formula 1" and the formula is H2O

🏴‍☠️

I'm gonna leave it at a flag and no "/s"

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 19 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

If only we knew, it would unironically be a good way to rid the world of it's biggest problems, within minutes.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

All it takes is a few minutes and an rpg

Maybe if we get a ball of highly unstable material and quickly force additional atoms towards it

It really is. It really, really is..

See Moe (Maureen) Tcacik’s latest piece in The Nation, Larry Summers, We Knew Ye Too Well

Or alternatively listen to the Jeffrey Epstein, the Russian Mob, & the Hidden Assets of the Maxwells (w/ Moe Tkacik) | The Chris Hedges Report episode of The Chris Hedges podcast

So kind of them to put targets up for canon practice

[–] john_lemmy@slrpnk.net 8 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

"A picture is worth a thousand words" situation for our current situation

[–] zarathustrad@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

A thousand words?

The best I can do is a few hundred drones.

I would also accept sharks with frickin laser beams

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 1 points 35 minutes ago

Or some very determined killer whales with torpedoes. I'm so down for these alt timelines.

[–] stepan@lemmy.cafe 17 points 12 hours ago

i thought it was ships falling off the exploding flat earth's edge

[–] brem@lemmy.world 63 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, but did Mary Antoin-ette have a stroke on live television after eating cake in a newly constructed ballroom!!?!?

You know nothing about good storytelling.

[–] brem@lemmy.world 24 points 12 hours ago

Clears throat

We gather here today on the 250th anniversary of "Cakeday"

..As some of you may have read in the history pads, "cake day" was a day on which signaled the end of "The Trumpish Cuckholding of The Empty Minds & Weak Voiced".

It was the day a piece of human shit choked on cake/ a day of remorse for Karen & Kid Rock.

The following days were brutal. Lots of slack-jawed pound folks riding on lawnmowers with commemorative plates & cups & flags. xxxl T-shirts were sold in record numbers. The water smelled like cholesterol.

Somehow, the brass lamp remained.

My brass lamp.

A lamp full of stories.

For more, please throw coin on ground.

What really gets me in this picture is that they’re not looking at each other and smiling. They’re looking at each other and hating that “his is bigger than mine”. They can’t even enjoy what they have.

[–] Test_Tickles@lemmy.world 8 points 5 hours ago

Bold of you to assume that any of "them" are actually "there" to see each other. The people that own these are "too busy" to sail there and then out. These ships are manned by staff who bring them here and then wait for the .01% to fly in, spend a few hours and then fly out.

Even better, is that I am willing to bet that more than a few are there to hold their positions, so they don't get pushed back next year, but won't be there this year at all. In fact I guarantee that at least a few are there to piss off someone else who is farther away, but can't get closer because the other ship is there.

I mean let's be serious, do you really think that the type of person who spends this kind of money on something is going to sleep somewhere that someone in a speed boat could get close enough to cause noise or even a minor bobbing of the ship any time of day, much less in the middle of the night?

You’re more right than you may realize.

After 9/11 one of the very first things the current president remarked upon is that his building was now “the tallest” [not even true] in NYC.

Fuckin 25 years ago this mf was spouting off blatant prime time TV lies.

[–] Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world 27 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

They can’t even enjoy what they have.

It's worse than that. Many do enjoy what they have. They are extremely happy and simply don't care.

[–] NullPointerException@lemmy.ca 26 points 10 hours ago

That’s not being happy. That’s hate, they want to smear their wealth in your face.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 13 points 11 hours ago

That's how they get stuck in the money game. They are incapable of being happy or content. They exist to serve The Hunger

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 32 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

It's not even, "let them eat cake," it's "I have my delicious cake, those peasants can starve."

[–] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 41 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

It's not even that. It's "I have so much cake that I can literally never eat it all, even if I live ten thousand years. I need more and those peasants are keeping me from it"

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 5 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

"Say, this gives me an idea. I'm gonna share some cake with science hippies to see if they make me live 100 thousand years. THEN I can have all my cake."

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 1 points 8 hours ago

The actual endgame. At least right now we're equal in that we all must die.

[–] Bustedknuckles@lemmy.world 12 points 12 hours ago

"a certain number of peasants must starve in order to motivate my cake baker to maximum productivity"

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 22 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

That's a lot of pedophiles...

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder how human trafficking numbers look when a lot of these are in port.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

Rock bottom, because all the cops look the other way.

[–] mech@feddit.org 13 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Can you imagine how painful it must be to own the blue superyacht on the left, and see that megayacht right next to you?
Can you really blame anyone for firing another 1000 employees to free up liquidity for an upgrade?

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 8 points 10 hours ago

That's what keeps them going to want more money and get that bigger yacht.

[–] ThisUsernameKillsFascists@piefed.social 16 points 12 hours ago (2 children)
[–] SwingingTheLamp@piefed.zip 15 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

As a sailor, it bugs me when I hear this sentiment. Orcas can't do anything to mega-yachts. The billiionaires are completely unaffected. The boats that they attack and damage are the sailboats in the 35 to 50-foot range, that is, the kind of boats that I might be able to buy, if I were motivated enough. (Like, $200,000, rather than $250,000,000.)

[–] halendos@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago

Orcas wouldn't do anything to those yachts... If they went swimming / fell overboard then yeah.

[–] corbindallas@fedinsfw.app 4 points 11 hours ago
