"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

"Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened" they said about 80 generations ago.

This feels straight out of Futurama. They made a robot Santa. Why not Christ.

Warning (2021) is a sci-fi anthology and some of the concepts are very interesting. One of the stories is about an Alexa-like AI the Church created as a god people can talk to.

When it goes offline, people get kinda lost...

Matthew 24:36 (NIV): “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

And, uh... AI I guess. 🤷‍♂️

Won’t these religious nut bags just Rapture already.

We don’t want them on this planet.

An old man, desperate for more life, appeals to any higher power that would give him an audience. Of course he is grasping at straws, but that's how you know the disgraced ex-CEO is desperate.

He's obviously trying to get the favor of the minds behind Project 2025.

Wait. Aren't they supposed to not worthship anything but the christ? Wouldn't an AI be concidered an idol?

[–] chillpanzee@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 month ago

Sure, they're supposed to, but the great thing about religious rules is that they're about as rigid as warm butter.

i misread as "... coming from Christ's rectum"

Same difference.

If these people actually followed John 13:34 rather than, I dunno, doing the exact opposite, maybe we would hasten Christ? Matthew 25:31, anyone? That’s the one that says getting into heaven is about helping the poor, the sick, the foreign, the prisoner?

How is it a Christian nation when its behavior is so Anti-Christ? I have a hard time believing any party, never mind the Right, actually enacting policy aligned with Christ’s message. They are so fixated on Christ as a cult of personality rather than listen to his words and living by those messages. They’ll quote Deuteronomy & Leviticus left & right and forget that Jesus said none of that really matters compared to Love One Another (Matthew 7:12).

Matthew 19:24 is also appropriate

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.
