Not necessarily. German humour is full of of sarcasm, which is why people who don't get that kind of thing assume Germans have no sense of humour.

If you read the fine print, you'll find that they don't only advertise the lift's speed, but also its silent operation when swiftly transporting treasures.

I think after that incident with that wooden horse, horse sculptures aren't very popular as gifts anymore.
