A man attacked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D) while she was speaking during a Tuesday town hall meeting in Minneapolis, according to local police. According to an initial police statement, the man used a syringe to spray an unknown liquid at Omar.

The man was immediately arrested and booked into Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of 3rd degree assault, the statement added.

A live stream of the event shows the man being tackled and taken away by security. Omar appears unharmed and continues speaking.

“We will stay resilient in the face of whatever they might throw at us,” she says.

Omar’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Hours earlier, President Donald Trump spoke derisively of Omar at an event in Iowa. “She comes from a country that’s a disaster. Probably it’s considered, I think, the worst — it’s not even a country, okay? It barely has a government,” he said, referring to Somalia.

It’s up to the citizens on the ground in Minneapolis and opposition elected officials across the country to chase MAGA and ICE as they are in retreat, making the simple point that the best way to stop murdering innocent American citizens who are defending their rights is to stop killing them. The best way to tamp down the terror is to stop terrorizing civilian communities. There’s simply no such thing as a kinder, gentler ICE. More investigations, more testimony, more demands for tearing down ICE and building a better, non-criminal agency in its place, more making every member of Congress who supported these travesties to answer for it every day until November.

There’s an epidemic of police state violence as US fascism sacrifices its own in an equally grandiose and desperate attempt to try to stave off structural crisis; healthcare worker Alex Pretti is the latest victim. The only cure: a nationwide general strike. Cover: Anti-ICE protest in solidarity with Minnesota General Strike, NYC. 23 Jan 2026

There is something destabilizing about having known someone only as a child and then hearing they were gunned down in the street. The person you see in your mind lying in that street is still a child. I’m sure his mother feels that way, too, or she sees him at every age all at once, including those he did not live to see.

After Alex was wrestled down to the ground, and after a federal agent pulled the trigger and Alex went still, nine more shots were fired into his body. I keep reading reports that there was a struggle before the first gunshot, but all I see is a person trying to keep his head off the ground while seven masked men surround and beat him. Certainly, through his training as an ICU nurse, he knew that it was important to protect his head. Once in the old neighborhood, when he was seven or eight, he’d fallen off his bike, his helmet splitting cleanly in half like a cantaloupe. He showed the halves to all the neighbor kids as a way to warn them to never ride without one.

The lies being told about him by America’s most powerful people are flagrantly incongruous to anyone who watches the videos. He doesn’t reach for his weapon at his waistband, which he had the legal right to carry, and which an agent removed from him before they killed him. He was not approaching the officers when they pepper-sprayed him and tackled him to the ground. He was helping up a woman who those same agents had just shoved to the curb.

The other video that’s gone most viral of Alex shows him providing a final salute for an ICU patient at the VA hospital where he worked. Alex speaks in a low, reverent tone before a flag-draped body, demonstrating the same compassion we saw in the footage of him helping a woman who’d been pushed to the ground by federal agents. It’s the same caring tenor of his voice in his last words: Are you okay?

“What I’m hearing is that, and take it for what it’s worth, that Donald Trump is actually farting in the courtroom and that it’s very stinky around him. It’s putrid odor in the courtroom and that Trump’s lawyers are like repulsed by the scent and the smell.”

Reportedly the presidential tooting happens when Trump dozes off at the defense table, which he did with some frequency this past week. This news makes it more distressing that this trial is being neither televised nor audio-streamed. It is outrageous that the New York courts are stepping on the public’s First Amendment right to know if the candidate of one of our two major political parties is farting loudly enough to be heard in the gallery seats behind him.

Imagine if he kept napping and farting during a high-level diplomatic meeting with another country’s leader? We’d have an international incident on our hands.

This is actually not the first time we have heard reports that Donald Trump smells like an old corpse decaying in the woods. A few months ago, former congressman Adam Kinzinger posted on Twitter about his surprise that more people don’t talk about Trump’s musk. He also said:

The easiest way to explain it … take armpits, ketchup, a butt and makeup and put that … in a blender and bottle that as a cologne.

A flurry of posts from the White House, Department of Labor and Department of Homeland Security have included images, slogans and even a song used by the white nationalist right.

By "white nationalist" they mean explicitly Nazi. Even though that's detailed in the article, it's apparently too sensitive to put in the headline.

The Trump administration’s rush to defend the officers and accuse the victims of attacking them has sparked widespread outrage and demands for accountability.

They NEVER EVER hold ICE or CBP accountable for killing. They won't even let investigations finish for fear of what they might show.
