I posted a related question before, about what will happen if people forget how to have conversations.

The replies basically said focus on yourself and enjoy silence.

Why is no one want to fix this? Are people supposed to live with AI companionship for years now?

I think you just closed yourself in a ecochamber that say "no one want to make friends!!!!" which is fake, clearly replacing girlfriends and friends AIs is not common at all, it's a bit rare too. Sure there are people that use chatbots to talk (see character.ai users) but replace their friends and girlfriends with that? Nah.

Also for answeing your old question about what happen if we all forgot how to talk: nothing, it's not like it's a thing that can totally disappear from the world or something

no one online want to talk

honestly this to me seems more a thing about you than anything else. I have plenty of people i talk to everyday online, i see a lot if people that talk with each others every day

Skill issue. Put yourself out there, go to events for meeting people, and touch grass.

YOUR experience is that people are struggling with conversation, but it could just be you or the people you talk to. 'Everyone' does not share the same experiences as you, and plenty of us are able to talk to people without issue.

Social anxiety can be a bitch, but even my introverted, social anxiety ridden ass is able to do it. Find a group for something that interests you and don't be too big of a terminally online weirdo and you should be good.

Asking the same question a second time after not getting the answer you want is so AI user coded lmao

Yes, focus on yourself and enjoy the silence is the right answer. Being able to entertain yourself is an important life skill.

>asks about social skills on lemmy >suprised no one knows how to socialise

Literally pick up your phone once a week and call one of your friends just to see how they are going. Maybe ask them to catch up.

Maybe they’ll think it’s a bit odd to actually use the phone for talk but it is 100% better than messaging or swapping memes. And they’ll get use to it and you’ll be able to call them up for years to come and maybe they’ll call you.

Also beware of what “everyone” seems to be doing. Those that use ai or have relationships with ai are often posting or taking about. Most people aren’t getting too involved with ai and just don’t talk about itit.

If we can't be social, how can we implement socialism?

There is a Futurama scary door episode where a scientist is annoyed by his wife and son always wanting his attention so he builds a robot so she has that instead. The robot makes his wife and son happy. So he can work on the things he likes without being pestered by them.

The end of the scene is him realizing the robot had a fulfilling life while he rotted away.

It's the episode in the video thumbnail. Starts @1:20

I think it's an appropriate allegory to using AI LLMs as an auto generated interaction between humans instead of actual genuine interactions.

[–] Griffus@lemmy.zip 0 points 3 days ago

Humans are a social animal, and no artificial presences will ever be able to exchange actual human interaction in any way.

If you are stuck in an echo chamber claiming otherwise, that seems outright unhealthy. Connect with people to connect with yourself. Nothing is worse for mental health that always getting it confirmed and never challanged, which is what makes AI so dangerous for mental health.
