I had one of these ordered for several years. They were originally supposed to start deliveries in 2021. Since then they've made several drastic design changes, like the entire chassis, and later the entire powertrain, and released like 8 "production intent" prototypes.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they never deliver

I wanted one so badly, but I wanted to not be scammed even more.

I used to be really exited about aptera, but as the years went by that enthusiasm waned. Their market is basically gone now, since you can get a real electric car for that price nowadays. Plus, after seeing this video from youtuber "wall street milennial" I dont think there is any hope for them left. I dont really like the essay style of that youtuber, but they cite hard, irrefutable data that paints a very clear picture that aptera is just treading water now, they dont have the funds to mass produce these cars, and no hope for further investments. Its sad really.

They have since posted 2 more videos about the aptera, here is the newest one TLDW: that line of credit is not going to save them.

i really don't get this this thing. Maybe it made sense when used EVs were not common, but for less money now you can get an actual electric CAR on the used market. Same range, more capable and comfortable, probably way safer, and from a reputable manufacturer of your choice.

good point.

For many, an "actual electric car" is not what they want.

I mean you can doubt it all you want but they have tens of thousands of pre-orders.

That's pretty decent range, and having solar panels trickle charge all day means for a lot of people it's basically at zero fuel cost. That right there is the big selling point.

If they figure out how to lop off a foot or two from the back without destroying aerodynamics and solar charging, it would look and park more like a normal vehicle.

Gullwing doors are fun, but a bigger person might have trouble fitting through that gap.

FWIW, Toyota experimented with a three-wheel, two-seater a while back, but range was nothing like this: https://theautofuture.com/2014/07/12/toyotas-three-wheeled-road-ev/
