The US flag code makes that specification.
The same one that disallows thin blue line flags? And flags with AI buff trump printed on them? And the president humping a flagpole during a press conference? If they don’t care about it why should you?
Yep, those are all examples of breaking the flag code.
I hold myself to a higher standard than those brain dead people. I'm not perfect, but when something is this easy to follow, why wouldn't I?
The English language does not. This comic wasn't produced by the US flag code.
But it is about the flag...
It's being spoken by an everyday person. That is a term that everyday people use. It makes no sense to take issue with it.
It makes no sense to correct someone when they're wrong?
If you wish to correct an entire culture against using a common idiom, enjoy your uphill battle. Everybody says half-mast.

It's ok to just let some things go.
Or, I could just keep doing what I do and light heartedly point it out. What's weird is everyone else seems to be taking this much more serious than I do.
