The money is in INR (Indian National Rupee) and 45 thousand will approx get you a Pixel 9a. So,there is that for comparasion :p

He "Texted friends, families & communities I'm in." I'm assuming his friends and family paid him a nuisance fee.

So, he created a need (him to go away) and then sold a solution (him going away).
