Do we even have a single country without censorship? All have it. From Glorious Korea to the USA. From Germany to Australia.
Chinese just started to apply it more sophisticatedly, not by just cutting out the "wrong" frames.
There are absolutely varying levels of censorship, so saying "everyone censors so this is fine," is disingenuous.
Yeah, I'd rather come at it from the opposite direction. "Everyone censors, so this exactly the kind of shit your government is going to try to force on you in the future." Everyone should care about this, if only out of self-interest.
China's writing the playbook. Other countries will follow it sooner than you might think. This is everybody's problem.
and the US is selling them the apparatus to do so
Right, which is an argument that our current form of government is bad, not that censorship and loss of personal autonomy is good.
