Covid started to kill it, ICE is probably gonna make immigrant kids not want to participate, so these kids are gonna grow up and not ever do halloween, so the tradition is gonna die.
It was already being killed by trunk-or-treating before Covid, but they really took off with the pandemic and trick-or-treating seems to be essentially dead at this point. It's amazing how quickly such an iconic holiday simply went away.
