As it turns out, most small businesses pay a higher wage than the big corps. Average wages end up going down when a town gets Walmarted because Walmart pays less than the small businesses it drives out.

Im not sure thats right. Mc dick pays 15 dollars an hour here and a mom n pop shop downtown either wont hire you or pays 9 dollars.

That is clearly a local anecdote. Why would you think what happens at a shop and a McDonald's in your community is representative of the average experience?

Because it is. Small shops dont pay shit, ive worked at them. They cant afford to.

Have you not seen bucees? They pay managers 6 figures. Because they can afford to. Bob and Linda cant afford to pay someone the 50,000-70,000 a year thats basically required to survive comfortably in most of the US.
