Navy Vet here. We do know how to march, and from what I saw, we did a passable job of it. As you said, marching and knowing how to shoot an M-16 aren't exactly useful skills 99% of the time in the Navy. The real issue I see is that the Navy in particular is the biggest pack of jokers and cut-ups I've ever seen outside of county lockup. If Trump wants a spectacle, that is exactly what the Navy will deliver. If he wants tight marching and drill, I would try the Air Force. The Marines are an automatic no-go. Our special boys and girls would manage to accidentally kill 1/3 of the attendees, impregnate a further third, and abscond with the remaining survivors.

You telling me that a job described as sailor mixed with soldier is prone to attracting rapscalions? /s

I feel like the marching on display in June was done because the military units knew this was a bullshit parade that isn't in the culture of the US military. I don't know if the Navy would want to do more, especially since Trump is changing the DoD's name to the Army department's former name

I would agree. Especially since I have seen what The Army will present at drill, formation, and arms demonstrations
