Corporations: This person will work cheaper than anyone else. Let's not do the minimal of background checks and just hire them.

Good. Reparations for the US destroying North Korea, and just barely.

[–] PearOfJudes@lemmy.ml 21 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Yes. The US bombed North Korea kind of like Gaza, and ngl I'm less worried about North Korean nukes than Israeli nukes.

The US did to North Korea what Israel did to the Gaza Strip. It is the same violent settler-colonial mentality. Then USians act surprised that North Korea wants to have nuclear weapons.

This is how the US assessed the damage after 3 weeks of bombing:

  • Ch'osan – 85%
  • Hoeryong (Hoeryŏng) – 90%
  • Huich'on (Hŭich'ŏn) – 75%
  • Kanggye – 75%
  • Kointong – 90%
  • Manp'ochin – 95%
  • Namsi – 90%
  • Sakchu – 75%
  • Sinuichu – 60%
  • Uichu – 20%

The bombing continued for 3 years... Only stopped when the US ran out of targets. "Pyongyang, which saw 75% of its area destroyed, was so devastated that bombing was halted as there were no longer any worthy targets.[30][31] By the end of the campaign, US bombers had difficulty in finding targets and were reduced to bombing footbridges or jettisoning their bombs into the sea.[32]"

"Burn it if you so desire. Not only that, Strat, but burn and destroy as a lesson to any other of those towns that you consider of military value to the enemy". - Douglas MacAurther

I only knew a little bit about this, so didn't want to equate it to a genocide like Gaza which I know more about, but yeah America really fucking sucks.

On December 8, 1941, Disney studios were essentially converted into a propaganda machine for the United States government. While most World War II films were created for training purposes, films such as Victory Through Air Power were created to catch the attention of government officials and to build public morale among the U.S. and Allied powers.[3] Among the notables who decided after seeing the film that Seversky and Disney knew what they were talking about were Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

This short propaganda film rebranded "terror bombing" aerial bombardment strategy to seem like a moral obligation for competent war fighting. The US and allies have been utilizing this strategy consistently in various conflicts. They still didn't "win" in (all of) Korea or Vietnam though.

the sampson option is the most terrifying nuclear escalation i've ever learned about; it indiscriminatel attacks both allies and enemies indiscriminately.

Exactly, this is what I was talking about I believe. I'm pretty sure my country is on that list

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 weeks ago

the entirety of the global north is on that list iirc.

I though that's what it was, too, in which case it's more like wage theft by the North Korean state. But this talks about insider installation of malware &c. but that might just be corporate cope for having accidentally hired a North Korean and been duped by a deepfake despite a "rigorous" background check.
