Marjorie Taylor Green has been hated by the Left for YEARS and never feared for her life.

She was hated by the Right for two DAYS and had to hire security.

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is just her cashing out while the getting is good.

She was always only in it for the grift and if she takes the bag now people will forget about her in 6 months while the Trump presidency continues its clown show.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That makes me think she NEVER got any threats. She NOW gets free security.

Just another grift.

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Do you really think most people want security watching them 24/7 if they have no threats?

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She may be looking down the road a bit further. Like when the revolution starts.

Down, down, down we go, down the witches road 🎶

More like "see you later". MTG is running for president. Watch for a podcast next year

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That sounds like a lot of fun. Gotta love a shitshow Republican primary

[–] Bustedknuckles@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I would think that if I didn't see Trump rock through the 2016 field. Now I'd rather see Liz Cheney vs Kinzinger for the R nod

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I follow Kinzinger on BlueSky and I could have sworn he had left the party. I see now he refers to himself as RINO

Even though he has in the past voted for plenty things I disagree with and apparently "90% in line with Trump" before turning against him, I have to say... yes. If Kinzinger ran that'd be nice. Sadly, the GOP primary polls put Vance way ahead... Still early days, though. Who knows? DeSantis seemed to be doing well for 2024 until he wasn't anymore. Maybe Vance screws up. Maybe Trump loses his appeal completely. It'd be nothing short of a miracle, though. Kinzinger actually even has a decent record on LGBT rights. It'd be a spectacular change.

As for Cheney... Not many people share this opinion, clearly it didn't work, but I found Cheney useful in Harris' campaign. To me it said "Look. Everyone from Sanders to Cheney opposes Trump. This is it. This is all of us. From left to right, everyone opposes Trump. Him and his friends are not even on the map. He's far-right. He's anti-democratic. He's not part of the debate. He wants to end the debate." (But yes, of course, I understand how the GOP enabled the oligarchy-driven autocracy that Trump is trying to cement. I know that Cheney isn't one of the good guys)

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The idea of someone calling themselves RINO just makes no sense to me. If you're admitting that, why the fuck are you still in the party?

[–] jaennaet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

The Party is more important than having principles

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I can live with Republicans who have integrity, and are truly committed to the true Republican tenets. I don't agree with a lot of their stuff, but I can respect it. Not many left. My Dad was one.

But Republicans were just the larval stage of MAGA, which is indefensible in every way. True Republicans don't really exist anymore, I suppose Kinzinger and Cheney are among the last T Rexes of an extinct political philosophy that exists in name only, almost as a sick joke.

There is no more Republican Party any more. It the MAGA Party now.

[–] jaennaet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

Republicans who have integrity, and are truly committed to the true Republican tenets.

What you see now have always been the "true" Republican tenets. Their talk about "small government", just like with literally all conservatives, has always been a façade.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago

It really does.

The problem is that the Dems will match them, knucklehead for knucklehead.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 4 points 1 week ago

Yep. Her crazy ass started sounding like Kamala in recent interviews

The amount of consultants puppeting her must be mind boggling

My brain: "AOC is retiring form Magic the Gathering?"

[–] Mubelotix@jlai.lu 9 points 1 week ago

Advent of code is retiring from Magic the Gathering?

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Maybe she is turned off by all the new themed decks

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 3 points 1 week ago

The new US politics themed Secret Lair

[–] etherphon@lemmy.world 36 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She made million of dollars by acting like a complete asshole, just like on tv. Well, it's the american dream.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

While the rest of us are desperately trying to save America, these people think they're in a Real Housewives spin-off, and are all about the drama.

[–] etherphon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Absolutely, she isn't stepping out gracefully, she should be apologizing for wasting all of our time with her stupid antics while she should have been doing her job. Honestly almost all of these senators and representatives are way too full of themselves. With the amount of money in politics now it's like being a celebrity, it's fucking bonkers and we need to turn it around because it's attracting the WORST PEOPLE.

Damn, now who is Lauren gonna get in the mud-~~wrestling~~slinging ring with?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

With her hand job skills, I'm sure she's popular in the Congressional Cloak Room.

Get'er, AOC 🤘🏼

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 13 points 1 week ago

Thank you, AOC.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

It's almost as if AOC is saying MTG isn't a good person.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 2 points 1 week ago
