A) bring back third spaces where people can meet up and socialize without money. Decent wages so people have free time. Unions so people have breaks and rights. Walkable cities where you can run into another person and have a chat without being run over by a car.

B) authoritarian police state where porn is banned but the government has 10gb of photos of your genitals and sells it to advertisers who send you coupons for diapers when you fuck.

[–] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 5 points 6 days ago (4 children)

....what are the diapers for?

...and why are they only sold to you when you fuck?

[–] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I think he's referring to invasive unethical marketing shenanigans like this

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

This is exactly what I was talking about, and its crazy this was 13 years ago.

I vote Fedizen for President/King/ Ruler of Everything.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

I promise to be only the most mediocre tyrant.

[–] obinice@lemmy.world 65 points 6 days ago (5 children)

That's not why they're doing it, they want to tightly control and track what everyone does, limit their freedoms and so on. But yeah.

[–] etchinghillside@reddthat.com 22 points 6 days ago

Shit starts getting real when they start cracking down on VPNs.

[–] ggtdbz@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 6 days ago

I only ever saw it as controlling the spread of the horrific and anti-human terrorist philosophy of “believing the mass internment and murder of Palestinians is not a good thing actually”

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

They're really upset we keep organising protests about things they don't want protests about.

Like climate or g-cide.

Much better to sabotage or intimidate them in the organisation phase.

Silly plebs should trust in Keir.

[–] xxam925@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 days ago

Nah I disagree. They don’t care about anything specific so long as the population of sheep is robust. They need to shear at their leisure.

They don’t actually care what the sheep do, who the sheep fuck or who fucks the sheep. They are just sheep. There isn’t a moral component at all. It’s a sham to get the sheep signed on.

Capitalists see themselves as a different species.

And yes I understand that I am a sheep.

Fuck increased birthrates. I want an earth with 3 Billion or less people, I don't want any of us to have to kill any of them, and no I don't care that our shitty forefathers made too many babies who are now elderly assholes ruining the planet: fuck em. Productivity has doubled or tripled since their time, we can handle up to triple the burden until they croak.

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Nononono, you don't get it: looking at the past 4+ governments, I think they want to increase the birth rate of the right people.

I was so naïve back when had I thought the Labour would be any different from the Tories...

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 3 points 5 days ago

Theres a world of difference between the Labour and Tories, you're not naive just ignorant.

[–] HereIAm@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

If they wanted to increase the birthrate if already wealthy people they wouldn't remove the 2 child cap for benefits.

[–] And009@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 6 days ago (4 children)

So you want to remove half of the population, like Thanos?

[–] Katana314@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I mean, Thanos’ plan may have been popular if he used the infinity stones to reward mothers for limiting their children, using societal pressure and other tools to limit populations for a generation.

[–] Petter1@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

He just had to convince males to not fuck with their cum active (e.g. doing vasectomy and reverse it as time comes). This would make hormones of women less fucked with, and male people would learn that it is not “she is just being woman”, but realise it was fucking hormone engineering.

🫣 but how should males learn that in a society where sexual education is shown as evil (like yea, we changed everything on this world and teach our children anything, but o noo please don’t tell them how reproduction works, so they just try something out and are fucked for live).

Same goes for drugs, if you just ban and say it is evil rather than why, you will always have bad experiences and shady cycles around drugs.

[–] And009@lemmynsfw.com 11 points 5 days ago

Would vote for Thanos

[–] shiftymccool@piefed.ca 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Whenever population control is mentioned, this inevitably comes up. No, not looking to "remove" anyone, just prevent more births than the natural environment can handle.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

I want to passively watch half of them die, like we are doing now, while not replacing them. Huge difference.

[–] Petter1@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 days ago

Isn’t there a book with such a story that they investigate some dangerous bomb thingy that turns out to just make about half the population not able to have babies?

I think they made a movie which sucks out of it

I think it is the same writer as has written davinci code

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

2/3. gives you an extra generation before things are back where they were

[–] And009@lemmynsfw.com 5 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Or just limit1 baby per couple, same effect. Population halves every life cycle

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago (2 children)

if memory serves, last time that was attempted it did not work.

[–] And009@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)
[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

They were probably referring to that, yes. But most of the issue with China was the additional requirement that only men could inherit the family wealth and title so it led to the killing of female babies and skewing of gender ratios.

They sorted a lot of that out lately and its done wonders for their quality of life long term, but they also renegged on the whole plan and are pushing growth again.

[–] And009@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 5 days ago

The law had plot holes, just needs to be long sighted with human behavior in mind.

What's happening now is different story. Maybe it'll come full circle.

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 days ago

Carrot vs stick.

Just give incentives to voluntarily have less kids. Heck, even just education, high wages, and social mobility (particularly for women) typically drops the birth rate at or under 1 child anyway.

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Better ensure perfect women/men equality before doing that, otherwise it leads to a big gender disbalance and high infanticide rate for girls, as was demonstrated in China.

[–] And009@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 4 days ago

Absolutely, that's a bigger fight altogether

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 22 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Literally hundreds of studies showing that if people can buy a house before they're 40, they will have more children.

You can't legislate your way into a higher birth rate. Even authoritarian countries have tried and failed. But you can legislate systemic changes that help people with housing, childcare, and groceries.

[–] Petter1@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 days ago

And maybe acknowledge that having a child is fucking labour and not a treat that pays for itself

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

In today’s standards, that is awfully a left leaning suggestion… some would would even say extreme leftist.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 2 points 5 days ago

Not really, standard progressive legislation is seen everywhere from Germany to California.

I guess it would seem extreme left if your only window into politics was a right leaning news feed. A lot of US conservatives have been learning about all kinds of social programs now that its in the news that Trump is dismantling them.

I wonder what sort of programs will be cut if the UK swings right next election? Universal Credit? Disabled Facilities Grants? Cold Weather Payments?

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Can't tell if that's Robotnik or Farva.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Brigadier General Robotnik, Farva (Mrs.)

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago (2 children)

We should all stop having kids and stop feeding their machine. Watch it all burn

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Or we could take a shortcut and just burn them down directly.

That is also a viable option. I just don’t see that happening.

[–] Paddzr@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

So fuck the youn g generation even harder? You think what? The old which will continue to outnumber them, won't fuck over the younger generation because they can't outvote them?

If the "cycle" breaks, the young get turbo fucked. Either you somehow offload the old dependables or you meet the demand. No one in their right mind wants to cull the elderly.

[–] IzzyJ@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Noett suggesting we cull the elderly, but what's being in our right mind gonna do for us? The enemy is fucking insane, may as well fight fire with fire. Let's have a left that isn't passive yeah

[–] etchinghillside@reddthat.com 8 points 6 days ago

Your country doing that too?

[–] hodgepodgin@lemmy.zip 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

When I first read this I was confused about whether OP meant Minecraft or Roblox,

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 days ago
[–] PeriodicallyPedantic@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago

Not the way I misread "block" to replace the o with an a. "I see this as an absolute win"
