Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!
Rules:
- Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.
Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.
Example:
- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
That's all the rules!

A tyrant threatened a private business and a person was fired from that pressure. Over their comments about politicians making things too political.
I don't give a shit about Kimmel or Disney or some corporation's bottom line. These things are not important. They are ancillary details to the context of a dictator shutting down free speech.
This stuff is more like celebrity gossip... It's gossip related to a thing that matters.
Bend the knee again. I dare ya. I double dog dare ya.
Good. May it continue to hurt.
The sad part is that these numbers are made up and Disney probably won't really be affected by this.
Unless a majority of D+ unsubscribes, stay unsubscribed, this will be little more than a blip on their financials.
Now that they brought him back, there's going to be another wave of revenue loss. A political pincer movement lol.
This is why staying out of politics is usually in a business’s best interests. There is no winning move where pissing off one side or the other is a good thing for $$$
The right was pissed at Disney years ago though (I can’t even remember what BS for); they’ve weathered that storm before.
I think this all started when Disney DARED to do the unthinkable and put a light saber in the hands of a Black actor for about 2mins. On top of that Disney RUINED EVERY CHILDHOOD EVER by making a female the main protagonist of the SW sequels. That was a bridge too far for the cheeto dust covered sad bois who were living with their parents at age 42, and the rest is history.
Disney opposed the "don't say gay bill" at the behest of employees and fans.
Right! Thanks for the reminder (even if it’s more pleasant to forget).
They also made a black Ariel
I really want to cancel Disney, but my wife won't let me because her currently bed bound mum likes to watch it.
Set up the arr suite and never look back. With jellyseer allowing users to pick whatever content they want, all the complexity is obscured behind the scenes. It just shows up in jellyfin or plex.
Thanks I'll take a look. Might be something I can do easily enough for me, but she doesn't live with us and trying to get a pair of 70 year olds to figure out new tech ain't easy!
If you need to expose outside your network, it can be done, but it requires much more care. But when it comes to usage, these consumption apps are crazy good ux these days; feels much like Netflix or Apple TV.
If you can't, get other people to cancel in your place.
You could boycott Sinclair and Nexstar instead since they were the networks who pressured ABC to drop him in the first place.
I'm in the UK, I dont know what either of those are
A decent start
Don't go back.
I'm doing my part!
Cause fuck’em, that’s why!
That's a fuckload of lost solid revenue.
