Anything to get rid of gun violence, as long as you don't get rid of guns.

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 6 hours ago

Because that is much more efficient than just simply having GUN CONTROL! Why not give every school an APV AND TANKS?!

[–] Alenalda@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago

Why address the underlying issues when we can sell weapons to all sides? The only things we make where in America are weapons and fossil fuels. There's money to be made!

[–] shirro@aussie.zone 1 points 3 hours ago

Americans are dumb cunts.

[–] fmstrat@lemmy.nowsci.com 2 points 6 hours ago

How does one even come up with this idea?

How do we keep kids safe when something happens in a school?

Wait wair, first. How do we keep us safe when something happens in a school?

[–] ViscloReader@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

How??? Like who in their right mind would greenlight this?

[–] abbiistabbii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 hours ago

Same reason the UK has the Online Safety Act: People who don't know shit about fuck being convinced by people who do know shit about fuck but want to make money from them being sold a big shiny solution that they are convinced will work.

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 2 points 6 hours ago

See, Florida is in america and you wouldn't believe who the big brain behind that shitshow is.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 25 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah this will go swimmingly. Especially if you’re the supplier of drones to the schools.

These will be purchased, sit in a cabinet and never be charged or maintained. When they are “needed”, no one will know how to operate them or what they can do.

This is a waste of money from the hit git go.

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 3 points 6 hours ago

They just need more school shootings, so these things get proper use.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 13 points 17 hours ago

I give it 6 months before some kid asks ChatGPT to help him hijack these drones instead of bringing a gun of his own. He’ll murder his classmates with irony.

[–] apftwb@lemmy.world 14 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Can the armed drone open classroom doors better than Uvalde police officers?

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 5 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

A dead fish can open doors better than Uvalde police officers.

The only thing to prevent school shooting seems to be more guns, AND more automated guns. Somehow.

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

It's not guns that are the problem, it's bullets, just ban selling bullets, let everyone keep there guns, problem will sort itself in a year or 2

HAAACCCKKKKS

Manhacks HL2

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 97 points 1 day ago (3 children)

How long until someone hacks a drone and uses it to commit a school shooting?

[–] TeddE@lemmy.world 15 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Or some situation arises where innocent students are the target

[–] yetAnotherUser@lemmy.ca 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

"You see, your kids died, but at least it was only your kids, and not anyone else. They probably would have died from the shooting anyways lmao"

[–] TeddE@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Or when they start using the drones as truancy officers as a cost cutting measure …

[–] Darkenfolk@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 hours ago

"Truancy is at an all time low" report various government instances. Oddly enough child sized coffins sales at an all time high, experts call it an "odd coincidence" more at 5.

[–] Truscape@lemmy.blahaj.zone 43 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How long until someone creates a plausibly convincing fake of these drones and uses them to perform a false flag or massacre with no chance of culpability?

[–] Bane_Killgrind@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 20 hours ago

Oh I guess that would be easier

[–] ideonek@piefed.social 19 points 22 hours ago

How can you read a proposal like this and not immediately go "Nope. That's it. We went too far. We lost. Let's circle back and start this entire society again from scratch"?

[–] PumpkinSkink@lemmy.world 6 points 17 hours ago

As a teacher, my first question to admin would be "so what do we do when a group of 15 year old boys get it and start flying it around the neighborhood"?

[–] NoodlePoint@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

Fucking stupidest idea I ever seen.

The US has more guns than its total population. Real GUN CONTROL is needed.

[–] Deestan@lemmy.world 68 points 1 day ago (3 children)

The number of guns will be increased again to handle the problems caused by the increased number of guns.

[–] BeanGoblin@lemmy.blahaj.zone 44 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The shootings will continue until morale improves

If only there were some easily identifiable common denominator…

[–] TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

An American solution to an American problem.

[–] mogranja@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago

We'll find out how successful the system is soon enough.

Yikes.

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Florida once again forgets that Black Mirror is a cautionary tale.

[–] Red_October@piefed.world 24 points 1 day ago

Soon they will reveal their latest invention, the Torment Nexus, from the hit Sci Fi novel, Don't Create the Torment Nexus.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I predict this will end in complete success.

We shall define "success" later.

[–] cley_faye@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

Can't be any school shootings if there isn't either school or children in them. Success.

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

They will decide they don't really want to do it after all. After millions has been given to various companies and contractors.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Sounds like a definition of success to me.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 26 points 1 day ago (2 children)

And when one of these Drones KILLS INNOCENT CHILDREN we can get Drones for our Drones to Protect our Kids from our Drones we Put in Their SCHOOLS!

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago

You are now moderator of the Drone Marketing Association sub.

[–] turdburglar@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago

the only way to stop a bad drone with a gun is….

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 2 points 16 hours ago

The best solution to prevent school shootings is to have a good social network.

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 21 points 1 day ago

What a shithole country.

[–] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Me watching T2 as a kid: this will never happen.
Me now: oh

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As long as the drones are fully autonomous but still use WiFi with the factory default password, it should be OK.

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 9 points 23 hours ago

Don't forget, that the password is written on the bottom, so its visible when they fly above you

[–] dissentiate@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I'm starting to feel like I'm living the prequel to Cyberpunk 2077...

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 12 points 1 day ago

You better start believing in cyberpunk dystopias, Miss Turner. You're in one!

This seems like a stupendously bad idea on its face. Haven’t they heard of Murphy’s Law?

[–] darreninthenet@piefed.social 14 points 1 day ago

What could possibly go wrong 🤦🏻‍♂️
