Zohran isn't a socialist lol. The only people who think he is also think Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris are socialists.

social democrat / liberal

There's a pretty big difference between a Social Democrat and a Democratic Socialist. Only learned that pretty recently myself

To be fair, "democratic socialism" doesn't really mean anything either. It's used interchangeably between a socialist economy with liberal forms of democracy and reformist approaches to establishing socialism, it isn't really a branch of thought with solid consistency. It's also a misnomer, in that socialism itself is democratic, it's like saying I like cold ice cream.

There isn't, democratic socialism is an oxymoron and exposes its inherent revisionist anti-socialist nature

What is zorin OS and what does Zohran have to do with this lmao

I believe it's a popular Chinese Linux distro that looks pretty modern.

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 25 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It's Irish. Ubuntu I think. It got a lot of downloads recently probably due to Windows 10 support ending.

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 12 points 1 month ago

It seems I confused it with the deepin distro from China. Thank you for the correction!

And the second part of the question?

[–] vala@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 month ago

It's Irish actually

Does anyone here actually use Zorin? Always wondered what it's like.

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 10 points 1 month ago

I installed it on a surface a friend's kid gave me. Everything works I think. It's just a torrent server atm. Basically if you're happy with Ubuntu and Gnome with some tweaks you'll be happy with Zorin.

Me and my gf main distro. Globally works out of the box and can be made very close to Windows layout so it eases the transition a lot, especially for non-tech people. I had some problems when trying to tweak some things, and learned that as it follows Ubuntu updates, it is pretty outdated software, so it can lead to issues for specific usages. But as it is Linux, you can still console your way out of it.

I use it on my laptop. I like it a lot so far, but a BUNCH more testing of gaming etc will be needed before I'll take the plunge and install it on my desktop.

I did. Didn’t function at all. Had a ton of issues with the sound card and the nvidia graphics driver also shit the bed multiple times and many games didn’t work. Same for mint though.
