breakfast - what you eat right when you wake up

brunch - a big meal late in the morning, typically richer food, optionally with drinks

lunch - noontide meal, typically light

dinner - afternoon or early evening meal, larger than a lunch

brongo - like brunch, but for afternoons

Virginia has a new Governor as well, but I'm not sure which other states had elections. Illinois, where I live, did not.

I prefer to use digital download if the band offers it, but yes I have a USB DVD-R drive I use to rip CDs in batches. But a lot of bands are selling vinyls with the digital download code stuck inside.

For library management, I haven't found a good local option since iTunes went to shit, but I use iBroadcast to stream my library and that's where I do all of my tagging and playlist-making these days.

Mulling cider and wine.

Cooking big meals without a worry of making the house too hot.

Integrating all the albums and demos I picked up at summer music festivals into my digital library.

Yes, though I've never had employer matching.

Seems cool. I like that he's thinking proactively about solutions. I'm not sure how much power he'll have to enact those solutions, but I'm eager to see what he does; not least because if he can make it work in NYC maybe we can crib those successes here in Chicago.

Yes, with my kids.

I'm a Chicagoan. No one looks foreign in the city of immigrants.

I live in Chicago, and have for over two decades. I have never owned a car here.

Within one block of my house, I have a nice playground park, a public library, one major and one minor bus route, and a great K-8 public school.

Withing two blocks I have a supermarket, a health clinic, two convenience stores, several fast food options including small independent shops, and a great highschool.

Within half a mile I have a coffeeshop, another elementary school with a gifted program, commuter rail to the suburbs, a brewpub, a public pool with a waterslide, and two more major bus routes one of which takes me straight to work and the other takes me to the Korean supermarket with the steamed bun stand.

Within a mile I have a two bakeries, a wine bar, a pharmacy, two large parks each with free preschool and playgrounds, another public pool, light rail into the city, a hospital, and another major bus route.

I commute by bicycle and Chicago is flat as hell. My route to work is fully along bike lanes, about forty percent of that protected by a concrete curb and another forty percent on a beautiful side street along the train track embankment covered in murals.

Cost of living? My house is 1050sf and cost $102K. I earn $55-60K annully and support a family of five on that. Without the cost of a car, it's easy.
