The implication is that Apollo's most favored bird took offense to Fabio's comparison or that Apollo encouraged it to do so, resulting in this "attack."

There are other clarifications about the actual circumstances in thread that are worth reading, but they don't really change the humor of OP, IMO.

From the perspective of Christians anyone else is a Pagan IIRC, but I could be wrong. It's kinda potato/potato though I understand your preference for accuracy either way.

The joke is just that Fabio claimed to be Apollo, and then Apollo smacked him in the face with a bird as punishment. I don't think it's necessarily meant to be a play on the personality of Apollo specifically, by Olympian standards he was pretty chill
