After the novelty wears off, I don't understand the appeal of Buc-ee's. It's a shitty convenience store, because it's not quick or convenient, and everything it has that other convenience stores don't is either shitty, overpriced, or both. You want food? Food is higher quality elsewhere, and about as convenient. Clothes? Higher quality and cheaper elsewhere, and about as convenient. The only reason to go there is if you want Buc-ee's branded souvenirs. The bathrooms are nice, I guess, but a decent convenience store like Casey's or QuikTrip has bathrooms just as nice and you'll be in and out much quicker.
Oh shit, they need to get ready to be sued. Only Buckee is allowed to have clean restrooms.
But seriously, never been there but I see comments like "but their bathrooms are nice". What's so special about their bathrooms? Do they have some high tech gadgets installed like the super expensive Japanese bidets or it is just being clean? And if so, why is that such a big deal?
Their bathrooms are nice, their food is good by rest stop standards, and their gas is on the cheaper side. It's a solid choice to stop at when you're on the road if you're unsure about nearby options. That's it. I don't get the white suburbanite consumerist cult integrating a gas station into their personality. It's like funko pop people but somehow worse
maybe appeals to truckers, because they often lean conservative, and bucc-ees predominately is in the south more?
They're explicitly anti tractor trailer. They have signs plastered all over the entrance. They'll accept anything else though. I've even seen a few campers at one.
Their gas is super cheap compared to everyone else in my area. Like - I paid 2.99 a gallon there yesterday and another place nearby was like 3.79.
I actually don't fully understand why their gas is so cheap. I would think it was to get people in the store, but Bucees doesn't generally have the gas prices posted on signs like everyone else.
In Florida they post the price. I think it’s the law there because of the shady gas stations near airports over charging
Wawa put in a gas station near Orlando international airport because their CEO was visiting and got pissed off by the price gouging gas stations nearby, last time I was there the Wawa was still charging reasonable prices and at least one of the other gas stations was still way overpriced (although that might be the gas station in Orlando that doesn't want to be a gas station, they just want to be a convenience store but zoning forces them to keep gas pumps so they price the gas at obscene rates to try to keep people from buying it).
I’m thinking of the gas station near Outback stake house near the airport. They are crazy with thier prices.
I think another part of the equation is that by the time the novelty wears off, the local competition will likely be wiped out or be less formidable at very least.
It's a good place to stop for decent gas, selections of road trip food you want and especially ample clean bathrooms. Looking slightly behind that, it's worse than a Walmart on the inside with grounds of people shoving through each other for meh-quality fresh food.
