Ow.. also Jake seems to started his own channel as well: https://www.youtube.com/@jakkuh_t
Seems like a lot of the early LTT crew were chaffing a bit under the LTT contract for a variety of reasons and opted to leave and start their own channels. I hope most of them succeed because honestly I always liked the other hosts on LTT far more than Linus who usually came off as more comic relief than actual tech news. As the old technical crew left I've found myself watching Linus Drop Tips very rarely.
Me waiting for Emily to start a Linux channel
It would be the perfect time for a linux tips channel. So many people are switching over.
Linus doesn't appear to be a terrible person, but I wouldn't call him a good person either.
Linus is very open about his anti-union and anti-labor views, and I lost count how many times he dropped quick anti-union propaganda lines in his videos.
After it came out that he also ran a knowingly operated a hostile work environment, I unsubscribed and never looked back.
He never said anything about being anti union. What he said was that if his workers felt the need to unionize then he had done something very wrong.
And the behind the scene stories about the workplace environment at his companies make clear just how absurd that particular line of his is.
Whenever unions, or labor organizing get brought up, he never misses a chance to take some dig at them, including his lie how he's such a great boss that his employees don't need a union.
Just like how he's such a great manufacturer that his backpacks didn't need an actual warranty.
What "behind the scenes stories" are you referring to?
Once again you misinterpret what he said about warranties. He did not say they didn't need them. He was making the point that warranties have no enforcement mechanism. And that you literally are just trusting the provider that they'll do what's in the warranty.
I don't understand how you think these two sentences are consistent with each other.
I don't know how you think they aren't so...?
I dont think anyone has said or hinted anything like that. Its more like a natural progression where they worked there and gained the skills and experience that allowed them to pursue their own channel. When they work for LTT they learn a lot about how to be on camera and run a channel then down the line they can put those to use and make their own channel.
Alex was one of the best hosts and will be missed. Im not really into cars so I won't be watching his new channel. Hopefully he can find sponsors to enable him to afford to make cool projects.
I don't think you read my story correctly.. Alex has also a tech channel specifically now: https://www.youtube.com/@zip_tie_tech (I know its just 1 video thus far.. you are the early bird here)
nah i know about that channel but I dont care at all for tech reviews. I'm sure he will post some janky builds and ill watch but not gonna sub to watch a review on a shit new laptop.
True. I don't like this laptop review either.
But I will give him a chance. Let's see what it will become.
Me too! Hence I recommend following Alex & Jake channels now :)!
