"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

If a teen can bypass safety measures on your software that easily then they don’t work 🤷‍♂️

Erm… actually, teenagers bypass security measures better than most adults.

I doubt that's the case anymore. Sure, the "kid tech genius" trope had it's day from the 80s to early 2000s, but now not so much There was this window of time where the tech could work wonders but was hard to use and demanded a great deal of understanding to get that wondrous benefit. Older folks had no time to get used to it, but young people had nothing better to do.

Now tech is accessible enough that you don't need to understand it so well, so younger folks don't learn it as much. Time mucking with it now competes with essentially limitless video and text content.

The millennial/younger Gen x partially met that expectation (most of them also didn't really understand tech either, just the ones that did were pretty blatant), but not anymore.

‘That easily’ = having a conversation with it while suicidal, not trying to break it.
