People who support Trump often say "I don't see him as a weird sex guy" but if you're not from the NY Metro area in the 80's to mid 90's, you have no idea how normalized pedophilia and near pedophilia was. Seinfeld openly dated a 17yo in the late 90's even. One of my grammar school teachers was an open pedophile, and NO adults cared. The kids just all tried to avoid being the kid who caught his fancy the year you have him. They eventually did fire him much later in the late 90's as the culture shifted, but this shit was tolerated to celebrated for at least like 16 years regionally.

Even now in NY the age of consent is 17

In my state it's 16 and they recently met to decide if they wanted to raise it to 18... and decided not to.

There was actually a news story a few months back about how the cops had to let a 40 year old who met with and had sex with a 16 year old girl on the internet go much to the complaint of the father because as far as the state was concerned.. the latter was legally an adult and could make her own sexual choices.

The idea that this stuff is wrong is newer than you might think. I know it sickens me too

The OG Gossip Girl novels are literally about high schoolers dating adult bankers, it's not even like it was a secret even after the culture started to shift.

Heck in the early 2000s as well.

Notice how the theme of Clone High says that the clones are "sexy teens".. a line that is suspiciously missing from the modern version's theme.

I still remember all the people "Joking" about wanting to fuck Mary Kate and Ashley and various radio stations and media groups celebrating their 18th birthday with drool and awooga noises.

Heck the first season of To Catch A Predator didn't even get police involved, literally just a finger waving and then just letting them leave

People actively being repulsed by adults having sex with teenagers is a depressingly new phenomena.
