I think it was Robotussin that had the actually good grape flavour. But it's been forever since I was a kid and I haven't ever taken medicine I can just buy at a store as an adult. I treat myself with OJ and chicken soup for colds and fevers; 7up and saltines or dry toast if the flu.
Grape? Dimetap immediately sprang to mind.
Robitussin tastes like absolute sin now. I take it and have to work not to throw up.
It is effective though.

There's a liqueur called "I'm bananas over you" that's pretty close, but I'm not sure if it's sold outside Canada/US

Found it, and have tried a bit. Its good, but very much still a liqueur in flavor.
I would say its 60% of the way to the penicillin banana flavor. Good but not bananay enough.
La Croix already has Cherry Blossom, there’s no way they can top that with a worse attempt at a flavor.

Honestly to me cough syrup tastes so incredibly bad as to be worse than the coughing. The cherry flavor has literally put me off of cherry flavored anything (except actual cherries) ever since childhood because it's my mental default for "tastes like nasty medicine flavor" now.
You know this might be why I like Buckley's of all things. They don't even try to make it taste nice and somehow come out ahead.

Buckley's my man. It sucks ass and they admit it, but it works.
