The bombshell report by The New York Post alleged that sources within the FBI had called Patel “in over his head” and his deputy, Dan Bongino, “something of a clown.”

“Patel apparently did not have his own FBI raid jacket with him and refused to step from the plane without wearing one,” the report, citing a highly respected agent, read.

FBI agents who were working on Kirk’s case “had to stop and ask around to find an FBI raid jacket — a medium-sized one — that would fit,” and eventually Patel was given a jacket belonging to a female agent.

However, according to the report, the FBI director complained that “two areas on the upper sleeves did not have Velcro patches attached” and refused to leave the plane until those areas were patched, prompting agents to remove their own to loan to him.

Patel denied the claim about his jacket, telling Ingraham that “it’s 100% false” and that, at the time, one of his agents handed him a jacket in Utah and said, “Hey, boss, you should probably wear this. We’re going to the command center.”

“I said I’d be honored to wear that, and then another one handed me the SWAT team badge of the unit that was protecting the area where Charlie was assassinated,” Patel said. “I wore that with pride.”

Things that totally happened for $1000. Km sure many people are saying it

It was a woman's jacket, Alex.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 108 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If he was wearing women’s clothing around a school isn’t that what republicans are mad about?

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 55 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What I'm hearing then is that Patel performed a drag show exiting the steps of the aircraft.

Crossdressing Kash Patel has a nice ring to it.

It’s moments like this where we can see how much copoganda really affected some people’s perspective on the world. I am willing to bet there is no small part of this person‘s reality that they don’t think is straight out of a Tom Clancy novel, and they are the forces of good and justice.

I guess being realistic with where we are now, straight out of an Amazon TV Tom Clancy series.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

straight out of a Tom Clancy novel

Ha ha, Tom Clancy. I always found that phenomenon rather curious. I honestly tried to read one of his books pressed into my hands, but I just couldn't. At the time, the comparison that came to mind was pulp like the Mack Bolan books - something I remember kids reading in elementary school and after I read one or two, I think I was kind of done. I think when someone who I didn't really know as a reader per se excitedly loaned me their Tom Clancy novel (I think it was Hunt for Red October) I was more into Stephen King and various fantasy/sci-fi stuff and reading Clancy seemed like it was just Mack Bolan for older people...

The thing about the Mack Bolan books was that I found it as if they pepped up the Hardy Boys a bit and plopped them down in a James Bond/ Cold War universe, but the stuff read much the same way as far as style.

Which is now hilarious to think about this association -> Hardy Boys -> Mack Bolan -> Clancy/Ryanverse since all of those series used ghost writers or other "authorized" authors to continue the cash cow...stuff I have found rather meh has made billions so I cannot say I exactly blame those running the scheme.

Anyway, I would not be surprised at all to find that someone like Patel (and honestly a lot of people in the Tacoverse) are fans of Clancy's work.

[–] defuse959@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

I can’t say for certain they are but I’m of the same generation as him and grew up around conservatives that considered that type of “America at any cost” media to be sacred texts.

When you scratch the surface on it, it’s all just thinly veiled jingoism in a glossy suit. Hence homeboys desire here to have a “cool guy” jacket with unearned valor on it.

It’s 100% about the optics at the photo op after the real work has been done by someone trained and qualified.

However, according to the report, the FBI director complained that “two areas on the upper sleeves did not have Velcro patches attached” and refused to leave the plane until those areas were patched, prompting agents to remove their own to loan to him.

So to Patel, the most important part of the job is the FBI cosplay.

Just like that dog murderer Gestapo Barbie.

Trump admin filled with cosplaying losers, more at 11

[–] shady09@eviltoast.org 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If you want to see a good leopards ate my face moment, go on Patel's twitter page and look when he made posts about an Indian/Hindu holiday. The Trumpanzees lost their mind on him.

Makes you wonder what he expected.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Same thing the thousands and thousands of black and latino and US immigrant Trump voters expected. "I'm one of the good ones, there's no way I'd face consequences, as long as they're going after the people I hate, I'll be fine."

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago

no way he would be that childish...

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 29 points 2 days ago (2 children)

TIL that 45-year-old Kash Patel has a girlfriend, and she's 27 years old ...

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 22 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

And she's totally not an Israeli honeypot. No sir. Don't even look it up.

[–] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Any info on that? I think there's plenty of real shit out there that we don't need to make things up to criticize them over, so I'd rather not spread this without any kind of corroboration. She seems like a regular conservative ghoul who sucks at art but wants to be famous for acting and singing, and failing that she'll try to be a hot podcaster, and failing that she'll be a trad wife to a bonafide party member.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net -3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, let's be careful with spreading misinformation about Nazis. You can only defeat fascism with honestly and kindness.

[–] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Spreading lies muddies the water. If they prove that some of what's said about them is bullshit, then it invites questioning the veracity of the actual problems that we haven't made up. Oversaturation of information along with some unknown amount of lies makes people say fuck it, idk what to believe, and then they tune out.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

BS. Spreading lies simply shows we don't respect them. Look how "JD Vance fucked a couch" story spread. Did any one question actual problems with JD because of that? Come on. It's not a debate club. You have exactly 0 people being on the face right now thinking "gee, I don't know what to think about Patel anymore. On one hand he's clearly incompetent but on the other some rumors about him were not verified". Just the fact that the rumors are there must piss them off and that's beautiful.

Also, people that tuned out will pay attention again when they can't afford food or are sent to a concentration camp by ICE. This is how you change their mind. Not by sharing facts with them.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Difference there being everyone knows that's a mockery and not genuinely intended to be true.

For the 'allegedly true' stuff that is actually realistic and realistically knowable but is on dubious grounds in actual facts, that can backfire without much upside.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Did any of the shit the right spreads ever backfire? Did "Hilary has a penis" backfire? Did pizzagate backfire? Did "Obama was born in Keyna" backfire? But yeah, if you say something untrue about Patel it will... what? Make some democrats switch sides?

The truth doesn't matter any more. Making fun of those people is the only way you can get to them right now. If you prefer to sit this one out that's fine.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'd say the Pizzagate and birther movement did backfire to some extent, some moderates alienated by how ridiculous they were. Ultimately it wasn't enough to stave off the Trump presidency, but if not for Pizzagate and birther movement, I wouldn't have been surprised if Trump managed to even get the popular vote in 2016, for example. I didn't even recall the 'hilary has a penis' thing at all, so I can't speak to that.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 1 points 1 day ago

Everything that "alienates moderates" also serves to rile up extremists. It worked perfectly for Trump. He rose to power spreading lies about immigrants and won elections by lying about the economy. I really don't understand how someone can still think he can be defeated with facts.

[–] Uruanna@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If they prove that some of what's said about them is bullshit, then it invites questioning the veracity of the actual problems that we haven't made up.

That's exactly how it works when the Nazis flood social media with nonsense. You just hav e to prove one thing wrong, that destroys their credibility forever and no one ever repeats what they say again.

[–] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

Nazis don't believe in their own bullshit. They just like having excuses. But normal, everyday people who aren't paying much attention will see us spread bullshit and say "gee, I guess both sides really are the same" and decide to not get involved. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Hammer the facts.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Not speaking to this specific bit of information, but generally speaking when they give you just so much easily provable material to work with, it's just silly to go far into speculation over trivialities that actually distract from the big and real issues going on.

[–] TheGoldenV@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Isn’t there another lady whose husband is 32 years older than her? I mean, it’s up to them. I just thought it was worth noting.

*vanity (the piggies have no pride)

[–] MrSulu@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 days ago

I'm guessing that "hits back" translates to being a bigger problem to all under his command AND a lot of idiotic words that he can't then explain.
