After months of degrading transgender athletes under the guise of protecting women’s sports, right-wing media weirdos are suggesting the WNBA “embrace” the sexualization of its players

MAGA media personalities can’t stop talking about the WNBA — not because of the players’ athleticism, but because people keep throwing adult toys onto the court during games. After degrading transgender athletes under the guise of protecting women’s sports, right-wing media weirdos are once again demonstrating their utter disdain for women athletes by mocking the incidents and suggesting the WNBA “embrace” the sexualization of its players.

It was never about protecting women. It was always about establishing control.

Of course they did, transphobia is one facet of misogyny.

Oppressing all women and policing gender expression is how they get their kicks.

“How dare they play sports and exist in public” and this is the next step.

When the very idea of wanting to become a woman is something you find horrifying, it speaks poorly of your view of women.

I think this is part of why transphobia against trans women is so much more loud and prominent than transphobia against trans men: to a misogynistic, it's incomprehensible that someone would choose to sacrifice their male privilege and "downgrade" to live as a woman. It's pretty sad that they think that way, because the cost of their own male privilege is a rigid adherence to hegemonic masculinity that'll eat away at your soul, even if you're a cis man.

Aaaaaaand saved. That's good shit, my friend.

Of course they are. They were mocking women's sports before too.

And as a trans woman, while I have issues with the way sport is treated in our society, women's athletes deserve a baseline respect they so rarely receive. These attacks are sexual assault at worst and sexual harassment at best.

The idea of someone throwing dildos at a sporting competition is potentially funny, but the act is anything but. And even in the hypothetical joke version, specifying women's athletics ruins the joke.

LOL, they never meant it. Same with the shit they spew about "protecting" children.

Do we need to start seeing NBA games interrupted by people flinging fleshlights? Strap-ons? Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Although it's not the male players' fault, most of them are cool about the WNBA.

Maybe the WNBA fans just need to tackle the throwers and shove the dildos up their asses.

I'm sure that would be just as hilarious and women-supportive as this trash

New rule at WNBA games: any thrown dildos get forcefully shoved right up the butthole of whomever threw them.

[–] Marafon@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago

Might see an uptick.

[–] damnedfurry@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This will only change the kind of person throwing them, not the amount thrown, lol.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If it wasn't misogynistic, it would be hilarious.

See the drone-dildo protest:

Bills fans throwing dildos onto the nfl field is also very hilarious
