We're about to do something stupid, aren't we?

[–] classic@fedia.io 27 points 5 days ago

Surely the citizenry will not pay the price

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 18 points 5 days ago

It's loyalty pledges I can almost guarantee it.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yes, but you can pretty much say that every day and be correct under this administration too.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

Every day, it is safe to assume that Trump has done something he should be arrested for

Gotta fire all the DEI hires. Not white? You’re outta here. Not male? Outta here. Gay? Outta here.

This meeting would also correspond to the government shutdown (October 1 if a funding bill is not approved). Most likely just a coincidence but I'll put it out there just in case.

There are no coincidences

Everyone knows optimal strategic planning is to gather all your high ranking folks in one place but then also make sure you tell everyone ahead of time that all your leadership will be in that specific place and when they will be there.

[–] CrabAndBroom@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 days ago

And possibly more crucially, broadcast to whoever the US is fighting across the globe that leadership will be absent and probably quite busy at a very specific time...

Cleanest of opsec

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

This is probably an idea the Putin sold to Trump...

The Pentagon has summoned military officials from around the world for a gathering in Virginia. Even top generals and their staffs don’t know the reason for the meeting.

sowing confusion and alarm after the Trump administration’s firing of numerous senior leaders this year.

There are about 800 generals and admirals spread across the United States and dozens of other countries and time zones. Hegseth’s order, people familiar with the matter said, applies to all senior officers with the rank of brigadier general or above, or their Navy equivalent,

Let's see current events are likely government shutdown, Russian incursions into NATO airspace, Trump suddenly supports Ukraine, national guard deployments internally, and of course purges. Anything I miss from project 2025?

Loyalty pledge to Trump or get dishonorable discharged on the spot.

Hell of a way to kick off a coup.

There's a lot of dangerous plates we're juggling right now

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 29 points 5 days ago

Idiot probably just Reply All’d.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 26 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Seems like a huge security risk to gather all those high profile commanders in one place.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 1 points 4 days ago

Sort of? It's not like anyone would, or even could, do anything about it

The real problem is the chaos of pulling all of these people off of their jobs to appease toddlers. These people actually have shit to do

[–] toast@retrolemmy.com 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)
  1. Bring together all of the top military together to mingle.
  2. Piss them off.
  3. ???
  4. Coup!

Is the polygraph machine getting cold?

[–] not_that_guy05@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

He's pretty much gonna consolidate military per by reducing top generals and doing the loyalty test.

Consolidation of power.

They will be playing the imperial March as they arrive
