Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Yeah. Take a look at common social media. It’s literally flooded again with right-wing BS justifying trump’s actions. Outright lies made over and over. There’s no way these aren’t paid troll farms doing this. The volume is overwhelming.

This is why Facebook banned me. I relentlessly reported people for hate speech and then started telling people that Jesus will likely spit them out when they go to heaven. They got triggered and mass reported my comments. Facebook is a shit hole of Ai accounts posting psychotic bullshit.

Just get off the service. Back up your pictures. Everything will be better once you’re gone.

All major cities are blue cities. The most dangerous cities are in red states because red state governments dont let blue cities run their cities without interference and beat them up to score political points. They want their cities to remain dangerous because harping on the cities for being dangerous is 85% of their political appeal to rural hicks

St Louis voted to legalize weed, for a $15/hr minimum wage and plenty of other things that would have drastically improved life for residents and reduced crime over a decade ago now. The state government took it away every time. More recently, the state government took control of the police department away from the city. All of this shit makes the city worse off, even though it has been steadily improving for the last decade in spite of the fuckery

Home rule should be a federal policy for all cities over a certain size

Does anybody even pretend to think this is about fighting crime?

I have several Republicans in my circles that do, it's surreal.

Yes. The way this always works is through useful idiots. There's a core group that knows it's bullshit, but they want to use it to pursue some other agenda. They then filter talking points to their media contacts. Those people may or may not believe it, but their paycheck depends on convincing masses of people that it's true.

The random MAGA guy on a Facebook post? He probably believes it. He's two degrees removed from the people who don't. The Enlightened Centrist who tries to mix both sides into a resemblance of an ideology is three degrees removed.

This is also why the only "journalism" outlets that aren't financially struggling are conservative podcasters and YouTubers.

I don't remember when I first heard about Trump, but when I started reading articles about him and seeing videos of him speaking in 2010 (such a long time ago...) I came to a conclusion very quickly that he was a fool and not to be taken seriously. Even on cracked.com (if those articles even still exist on their site!) back in the day he was universally reviled. The guy is just a criminal, pure and simple. He isn't even a particularly smart criminal. The one thing I had to really come to a sobering conclusion is that being 'smart' and being 'successful' are two entirely different things... also the world is absolutely full of irredeemable jackasses, a fact I should have come to the conclusion to as a young child, but I didn't until much later.

This. Anyone who actually thinks Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos is a self made man is gullible as hell.
