Same as OSs, but with Linux you choose when to update. Why would be browsers different?
Funny enough when I update through Linux and don't pay attention to whether Firefox is included I'll have Firefox refuse to open any new tabs because its files got overwritten while it's running. At that point it forces you to restart which I guess is better than just crashing.
Idk about your is. Fedora sends me notifications to update and prompts to do so on shutdown.
The problem is that traditionally, Linux distro didn't just update the OS, but also applications like libre office. So you couldn't download an is update without updating your apps, which you might not want to always do

Agree, in Vivaldi there are a lot of security updates, but one thing are security updates, bug fixes or even browser updates in general and way different from updates where are appearing things and AIs which nobody wanted or requested. This is a no-go. In Vivaldi new features are which where requested by the users and first released as soprano preview or snapshot versions, before there is an stable release. There are no surprises.
Kind reminder your browser is the piece of software you use the most in your computer.
You should keep it updated.
Yeah.
When I allow it. Not when it wants to!
[Insert Hades "I OWN YOU" meme]
And it's the thing executing untrusted code from who the hell knows where.
I always yell my name as I am slapped too.
Why is there blood? Does Batman slap Robin bloody? ๐ง
Me vs Samsung's bloatware updates
In Vivaldi updates always wanted by the user.
I am just now trying out Vivaldi on mobile, if I like it I'll put in on my Linux laptop.
Recommend Icefox as a replacement.
Everything works, but no AI BS.
Did you mean GNU Icecat? Or Waterfox?
Holy shit, thank you, i've been using Linux, so icecat, but for windows I meant to say waterfox
You can just choose to not turn on the AI?
I've seen those messages but I've always ignored them. I restart whenever I decide, not when Mozilla wants me to. ๐
