imo the world (and new york) has bigger problems than streaming platforms

You're not listening. "Streaming platforms" are not the problem. Big Tech is the problem. And its a massive one that people may or may not understand completely. Streaming on Twitch is not just not solving that problem, its actively contributing to it. I figured the people here would know better but I suppose there's not even any hope for that.

Not sure if Mamdani is the vehicle for that kind of change

Why can't he be?

Why can't he be?

Because he has an actual job, and that isn't part of it

[–] artyom@piefed.social -2 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Okay but livestreaming on Twitch is part of his job?

[–] Snarwin@fedia.io 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Communicating with the public is part of his job.

Oh okay, so it sounds like you agree with me then.

Absolutely not lol. If it were 1936 you'd be whining that FDR shouldn't go on the radio because the radio stations are all owned by robber-barons.

And if it were 1936 there wouldn't be an internet, so there wouldn't be a good alternative, and that would be a bad analogy. As it stands, there absolutely is. Lots of them.
