Isn't the marines uniform black? Or is it something for the lower rank only
You're probably thinking of their "dress blues". Its like the military equivalent of a formal suit, they get worn to parades and weddings and stuff. Every branch is a little different, but the dress blues for the Marine Corp is a really dark navy.
