Minor asterisk: we need to move away from abusive tech business practices altogether. It's distressing how people can see the problem and recreate it like with Bluesky. I hope we can build better systems now rather than doing this all over again with european monopolists in 10 years.
Capitalism needs to go if you want this to happen.

What the world needs are federated, distributed systems like www, email, and the fediverse
Just because they operate out of China, that doesn't make them anti-capitalist. Frankly, despite its name, China has a capitalist economy, just with much stronger authoritarianism than most.
