The rest of the world couldn't give a shit. Football always was football. No one gives a shit what you call your national sport that no other country in the world partakes in.

Also far too many clock stoppages.

Rugby: an 80-minute game that completes in around 100 minutes, inclusive of the 15 minute break between halves.

Gridiron: a 60-minute game that inexplicably takes 3.5 hours.

Very little fucking about in rugby, they just get on with it.

in Ireland it often will get called soccer a lot of the time because football means Gaelic Football (depending on some context), but then sometimes they definitely say football for english football and gaelic for gaelic
