It derailed everything. I went from college age young, and "I just need a job" to "nothing can redeem this, I just want to get life over with".

Yeah, thanks. Trying to at least not kill myself, become normal, and find tranquility to live out my life in. Ambitions are pretty much gone.
Normal is overrated, just find things that are comfortable for you. I wanted to change the world in my teens, now I'm just happy to have (just barely) managed to buy a house. If you can't accomplish dreams it's okay to work on stability in which to enjoy hobbies instead.
I would not care about being normal, if anything else in this country would not cause you so so much trouble. Even solving problems in a different way, makes my co-workers outraged.
Fuck your coworkers, it's none of their business.
