Experts warn of threat to democracy by ‘AI bot swarms’ infesting social media
(www.theguardian.com)
"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
No.
Right wing memes are short and appeal to biased worldview. Reality is nuanced and complex. You can't fit that in a meme.
You can flood the internet but no one's going to bother to read it.
Basically this:
Except the original meme had n-word instead of 'minorities'.
If you can’t make it appealing and simple, maybe you have some soul searching to do. While execution is usually complex, the basic ideas or sentiments are simple, and thus also suitable for „short attention span“. As an interesting example, the idea of complexity itself you’re describing, can be marketed in a simple way: are you smart or an easy to manipulate dum-dum? Create positive associations with double-checking, an identity around being smart, ridicule the gullible, make them feel genuinely embarrassed. It’s not so difficult.
I look forward to your campaign of changing hearts and minds, and turning the tide on the rise of global fascism then.
I just generated a couple of AI images contrasting "smart and balanced" with "emotional and stupid" in about 2 minutes, and I'll contact people with more reach than me to consider the idea. Since it's so easy to generate I assume that everyone who likes the idea will just write the prompts themselves. Looking forward to your 2 cents as well.
Wow! So innovative! Fancy sharing with the rest of the thread?
Now that you've done the easy part, how are you going to spread this to the masses, to flood the zone? Against the machine of capitalism and pro-capitalist states. How are you going to get others to share your content?
How are you going to ensure your content spreads the message you intend it to, and isn't misinterpreted? How do you ensure your simplified versions of complex subjects aren't reappropriated by those you oppose? For example, I know people who became interested in anarchism, and ended up astray down the path of oxymoronic anarcho-capitalism despite their original good intentions.
This isn't an easy endeavour as you alluded. If it were, then we wouldn't be in the position that we are.
You need to calm down. The human brain is a powerful instrument of creativity when you aren’t suffocating it will all that nay-saying.
