"Before 2015, investment flows between the two countries were roughly balanced (depending on the year). Since then, Canadian policy has increasingly emphasized environmental and social goals over economic competitiveness—an area ripe for debate, but not without consequences for growth and productivity. Overly stringent regulations, especially in capital-intensive sectors, and higher marginal tax rates can lower the after-tax rate of return on investments and therefore lower the incentive to invest in the first place"
There is a fundamental problem, in the world:
IF it is more-profitable to butcher the world's viability,
AND even-1-single-jurisdiction rigs all law to orient to doing that,
THEN .. all other jurisdictions ought fall-into-line, in order to "remain competitive", right?
Remember the wildfires??
That wasn't "hoax".
Notice how the LIMITS on weather are getting discarded, so that while the planetary average temperature climbs, the local temperatures can swing much harder, & the hurricanes are stronger & more-frequent, & the snowfall is massively-increased ( you simply don't get much snow in -30C weather, but you get lots around freezing-temps ), & how we now have megadroughts & "atmospheric-rivers" drowning portions of the land??
Yes, it is true, that if even-1-jurisdiction has NO human-rights-laws, THEN money will concentrate there, to get work done, because it's "more profitable".
That is exactly human sociopathic parasitism's nature.
Same with no-regs.
So, money claims that it MUST rule, that is inherent!
& since it must rule, then all such jurisdictions are the benchmarks for world-"management".
That's wrong-framing.
The ACTUAL correct answer, is to REQUIRE human-rights, in all our invesments.
Make it illegal for Canadians to invest in slave-operations, prison-labor, unpaid-labor, underpaid-labor, etc.
Make it so that MarketBasketMeasure income is the minwage required for ALL to be paid, in our economy & supply-chain.
it's the costlier way to go, but putting civilrights front-&-center means it's what we're judging on, & it means it's what we're protecting in the world.
Others claim that money & anarchy have rights to butcher entire-populations, entire-regions/ecologies, entire-foodchains, poison entire health-regimes ( like de-regulating coal, with its mercury-poisoning problem ), for their narcissism's lordhood/glory.
Pick 1.
Exactly as the root-guru of the Christians said: "you can't have 2 gods: either orient to worldly-god or orient to real-G-D".
The same is true of values.
IF butchering LivingWorth is valid, for .. status, money, wealth, position, renoun, whatever, as the Epstein types do, THEN .. why pretend otherwise?
IF LivingWorth outranks money, then make that law coherent & consistent, applying to all in our supply-chain & stop pretending that we only need to hold-to principles within specific rooms/jurisdictions, etc..
All of us butchered, XOR all of us having validity & rights.
That, fundamentally, is what gets sorted-out this-century, during The Great Filter.
See it for what it actually is!
It's a war between PARADIGMS, & the "only the privileged lives matter" narcissism+sociopathy .. has its endpoint: total extinguishment, with some national variant of "mass shootings" wiping-out everybody ( Putin & Netanyahu are demonstrating this against their own country's viability, right-now, Trump will be proving it once his tippingpoint is crossed, & their Constitution is permanently-overthrown ).
EITHER civilrights are real, in which case they're real throughout our entire supply-chain, XOR they aren't real, in which case Peter Thiel & Musk are right.
Pick 1 paradigm, & understand that during the next-stage of this-world, the stage of regional-consolidation, hundreds-of-millions are going to die, settling that, deciding which countries are in which paradigm.
That stage won't finish until the 2030's, early or mid.
ALL the rest of this decade is going to be enmired in that civil-war between paradigms.

And then there is Europe.
