Trump has pardoned over 70 people who tried to help him overturn his 2020 election loss. Some fear it encourages GOP officials to become even bolder with efforts to help Trump subvert future elections, "knowing that if they succeed, they'll be pardoned."

Pardoned them for nothing, because those are state crimes, that dumb motherfucker

Mmmm pretty sure the Supreme Court said the president can do whatever the fuck they want. Did I say president? I meant orange burger king

Can pardons be undone by the next president?

If we ever get a non- shitstain Nazi trash government, I want all these rat fucks to go back to jail where they belong. Hell, send them to the detention facilities they've been making (aka concentration camps) since they like those things so much...

He won't live forever, and the power vacuum will be legendary

No. If you were pardoned or had your sentence commuted it can't be reversed.

He's still facing state charges

Well now they can't hide behind the 5th ammendment if the time ever comes to talk about Trump's involvement

I'd love that, but he's buying their loyalty and everyone knows it - the co-conspirators can do nothing and probably nothing will happen to them, or they can betray him (i.e., not betray the Constitution and country), and risk some kind of retribution through him or his sycophants. They'll choose option #2.

And beyond that, even if Trump leaves office without a civil war, he will pardon himself the last day, I guarantee it. The Supreme Court with its executive immunity decision already laid the groundwork to reject challenges to even blatantly illegal self-pardons.

I want nothing more than Trump to be punished for any of his crimes. But it certainly won't happen in his lifetime and probably neither in ours.

Beyond that, accepting a pardon is legally an admission of guilt. So, as undisputed insurrectionists, they're all now ineligible for public office.

Assuming, that is, that the Constitution still applies…

We all knew he'd do this since Day 1 of him taking office.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

frankly surprised it took him 10 months

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I kind of assumed he’d thrown them under the bus like the parade of sycophants that he used up and dumped during his first term.

What’s coming is worse than prison anyway

[–] NuraShiny@hexbear.net 3 points 7 months ago

I thought he'd already done this.
