Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I saw two seagulls that had both started eating some long fish guts left by a fisher. It was like a long piece of spaghetti and they started at opposite ends. As they go closer to each other they started fight. One would pull the guts out of the other one scarfed it down then the other one would do the same thing. It was one of the funniest and most disgusting thing I've seen. As some point it broke, but hey every time I see Lady and the Trap I think of it.

I once saw a seagull take off with a big ass fish halway down it's gullet. It managed to swallow it mid-flight, lost it's balance and fell on it's ass like 10 meters off the ground and managed to regain it's composure before it hit the ground.

I once saw a seagull stalk a kid with an ice cream to the point that the parents had to intervene from the kid being flown away. Massive motherfuckers

Wait, you're supposed to swallow it as you suck it in?

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

How else would you eat spaghetti?

[–] deacon@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You just spool it into the pouch of your cheek until you’re ready to swallow the whole entire spaghetti bolus at once.

Right?

The world record longest noodle is just over 3km long, made with 40kg flour and 26L of water, with 600g of salt.

You better have big cheek pouches.

You could be sucking it, swallowing it, digesting it and shitting it out all at the same time.

[–] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You don't chew spaghetti?!?

You slurp a batch, chew, shallow. Repeat.

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's kinda like rifling a beer, just relax your throat and let gravity do the work.

Do you want a moth full of vomit? Because that's how you get a mouth full of vomit.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Why not just wait for the spaghetti to come out the other end?

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I wonder if you could connect the ends and complete the ring cycle...

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

.... and loop the cycle through two ... or more ... people

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Can we kidnap strangers in a house while we... connect them together?

[–] Dunstabzugshaubitze@feddit.org 3 points 2 weeks ago
