IIRC this happened in January of 2025. The rebrand obviously failed because I don't know a single person who calls it anything other than "Office" or "Microsoft Office".

In reality the copilot is not their ai, it is the user!! They drain every single click, data, keyboard input, every mouse mouvements for a while now. The strategy is to train an ai to replace the worker. The copilot is you.

So all of the Microsoft 365 users become instantly AI users? Microsoft gonna report after months that AI users surged the first months of 2026, stocks gonna go up, shareholders happy.

I really like libreoffice honestly. In my job I have to use docs but I find myself copying from libre office most of the time. Prior to that, I used to create all my visuals with office and do my graphs in excel. So I’ve tried a few different ways to do things. Libre reminds me of old school products and I kind of like that. Plus it does what I want with shapes. Which is nice when I need to make visuals. I still use excel though, for now.

I think it's time to make a serious push into getting people to boycott Microsoft along with OpenAI. Windows 11 is now a bloated surveillance operating system and Office 365 raised their prices to pay for an AI feature based on OpenAI's LLMs. OpenAI donated $25 million to Trump.

Right after I learn about how much of a failure Copilot has been, and they do this. I'm not surprised, but man.

Wasn't there a report a week or two back saying that they cut their internal sales targets by 50% because no one was using copilot? They must be desperate to abandon decades of branding they have built up.

I cancelled my subscription when they made the copilot plan the default and switched me to it without asking. I'm now selfhosting nextcloud and using libreoffice.
