600 billion increase in annual military spending starting in October, financed by another huge jump in import taxes (tariffs)

How can US import taxes, paid by the importer (US), be used to finance something in the US?
What am I getting wrong here?

Customers in the US are paying the tariffs prices which are being spent by the government. It’s just another drain that flows up

So, milking their own citizens
Makes sense, thanks

Its a way for Republicans to raise people's taxes without the most ignorant people (their voters) realizing that's what they're doing. Then when the voters find they have no money they'll vote Republican harder because it must be those immigrants, welfare queens and trans people taking it all.

Huh? Why wouldn’t US government taxes be used for US government expenditures?

I Just forgot that the taxes paid on US side are just that, taxes.

I'm sure all that money will be spent effectively and not just end up enriching billionaires even further.
