Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Establishment Democrats are rejecting an increasingly popular position by refusing to take a bold stance that happens to be good politics.

If the Democrats had any interest in dialing back the police/surveillance state they would have done it during the Obama administration when they had a majority in all 3 seats of government. People are so goddamn naive.

Schumer thinks the kill shot for the republican opposition is to focus on lowering grocery prices (something they honestly have no power or plan to do) while citizens are getting shot in the street.

I got a newsletter from Gillibrand and she doesn't even mention ICE, at the time a week after Renee Good was killed.

They're not even picking up the ball.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Gillibrand and she doesn’t even mention ICE

Ah, the one that shivved Franken.

[–] PokerChips@programming.dev 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Those two are con artists. It's funny you mention Schumer having picking a topic he has no power over because I imagine that his role shtick.

Haha the Schumer Schtick: con the public by talkng about emotional idioms he has no control over and distract away from real issues he does have control over.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

He had control over the shutdown, that absolutely worthless shit of a man.

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Schumer is obviously working for team red. Don't listen to a word he says, just. watch his actions. It's obvious and indisputable.

[–] yonderbarn@lazysoci.al 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I would absolutely berate these people if I ever saw them on the street

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

The nobility should fear the peasantry.

I got a letter from Juan Vargas and they not only misspelled my name, they basically told me that they don't have any way to actually change anything. I don't actually know which call they were responding to, I have a tendency to call those cowards once a week.

Install the app called "5 Calls," it makes it trivial to contact your representatives and senators. They also provide you with scripts if you need help wording things.

Remember: abolishing ICE is the compromise position. Never start negotiating with your end goal.

[–] lmmarsano@lemmynsfw.com 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

In that case, why not start with exterminate ICE to negotiate something in between?

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Nuremberg II with no Operation Paperclip. (Not that any ICE dipshits would be smart enough to qualify anyway, but just to be safe.)

Establishment dems are 100% the kind of people who make excuses for abusive spouses hurting their kids. We need to get rid of everyone who's to the right of Sanders in the dem party. That dude is pretty much the only centrist in their 'leadership'

"We need to reach across the aisle and let him strangle his wife some more. She's not dead, so she can clearly take a little extra. And the guy loves it. So let's all calm down and let him squeeze her neck."

“We’ll figure out the accountability mechanisms at the appropriate time,” Jeffries told reporters.

You’re fired.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 44 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Shooting innocent women in the face and kidnapping thousands of people to send to torture camps in 3rd world countries isn't the appropriate time?

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

The appropriate time is very obviously when they need to bug you for donations and/or votes.

[–] grimpy@lemmy.myserv.one 20 points 2 days ago

thousands of innocent people being kidnapped & tortured

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 34 points 2 days ago

The appropriate time....aka we're not gonna so shit. Yesterday was the appropriate time you ghoulish fuck.

These relics think the entire reason they lost was because of the bullshit immigrant propaganda pushed by the MAGAt right. So they think their path to success will be showing those MAGAts that they too are hard on immigrants, not even noticing the baby being washed out with the bathwater.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago

"Nothing will fundamentally change and the economy is fine."

(loses)

"Wow you guys are so sexist."

[–] Xerxos@lemmy.ml 19 points 2 days ago

Trying to be more rightwing to get more voters never worked: the right demonized the Democrats, so they will never vote for them, while going even more to the right alienates the left.

But they will try anyway because going left would alienate their sponsors and doing nothing results in loss.

[–] Weydemeyer@lemmy.ml 20 points 2 days ago

I heard Elissa Slotkin in an interview the other day, and she would not commit to trying to pursue reduced funding for ICE, much less abolishing it…

probably the fact that bill kristol is calling to abolish ice but dem leaders can't

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Try never picking it up in the first place.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

It is time for DHS interests to bribe the Democrats some more. Don't worry, they got this.

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Schumer: Dems are overwhelming becoming a popular resistance because of ice and republican fuck ups.

Jeffries: Not good. We must fuck this up.

AOC and Bernie: 🙄

Mamdani: 😫

Fetterman: 🥹

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

AOC Pelosi voted to continue funding Israel.

[–] jim@lemmy.org 18 points 2 days ago

Can’t drop a ball you don’t pick up.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 6 points 2 days ago

Well, when you phrase it like that...

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

By not doing it.

ITT: People blaming everything on the party Americans voted out of power instead of the people actually doing the bad things.

Literally the only thing the democrats can do is whatever they can convince enough of the GOP to go along with, which isn't much. Many times the most they can do is write a strongly worded letter.

Are you capable of math? If D = 213 and R = 218, is D > R or is R > D? Oh right Americans can't do math, so blame the Democrats I guess!

Dumbest country on earth, blaming the opposition party for what the governing party is doing.

When there's FASCISTS in power, you are supposed to oppose the FASCISTS. This isn't hard.

Y'all can't come to terms with the fact that your country is being run by a fascist child molester dictator and just pretend like it's someone else running the country. Too embarrassed to admit y'all should've voted for the competent black lady instead of voting for deranged lunatic child molester. Or maybe you just didn't vote because of some bullshit "principles". When your principles result in fascism, you have some really stupid principles. Too embarrassed to admit you filled your heads with internet bullshit that you were unable to do the painfully obvious.

You're still incapable of opposing fascism because you still want to keep your heads filled with internet bullshit, never questioning where the bullshit is coming from.

Stupid fucking Americans.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

We didn't vote them out of power. Drumpf and Elon both admitted just before the election that they were rigging the election. Tons of irregularities. The voting machines were owned by Dick Cheney, and are now owned by another Repuglicunt fascist.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca -1 points 1 day ago

Still too embarrassed to accept reality.

So Dick Cheney was conspiring with Trump? Must have made for an awkward Thanksgiving with his daughter, don't you think?

A conspiracy theory that only an American would believe. Denying reality is just compounding the embarrassment your country has become.
