We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

Only problem with this is the divide isn’t at the state level. It’s between urban and rural.
And like it or not we all need each other. Farmers need customers and people in cities need food. Rural people think they can survive on their own but good luck with that when the money stops coming in.
Money isn’t even the half of it. Modern agriculture requires so many other industrial inputs that they wouldn’t be able to grow enough food for themselves without it.
You mean the productive, smart states should finally shed the Republican rightwing hellholes?
She keeps saying this but how would it even work? No state is 100% red or 100% blue and moving millions of people around is never going to work.
Never. Handing over innocent people to the new confederacy would be a Trump-level betrayal.

This one they can convince their base to blame the 'radical left', and so they can ratchet up the political violence. They are taking a dive like a professional football player.

So what does "a peaceful national divorce" entail? Because that's article doesn't really elaborate on it.
Do they want to relocate anyone they deem to be the enemy to the West Coast and then 'build a wall' down the Rockies? That sounds closest to a national divorce to me. But I suspect their version would involve 'removing' people they dislike while ceding no territory.
End result is probably going to turn coastal cities on the west coast into "autonomous republics" that are politically detached to the rest of the country.
Who is going to finance the flyover states then?

I’ve always wondered what a city state solution would be like. Where cities over a million become their own state with full representation. I feel like that is the divorce we need.

Good grief, how is it that she is now a side thought in my’this entire thing is off the rails’???? Like… ugh. The window has shifted so much it’s wild.
IMO balkanization is inevitable but a clean cut "national divorce" is wishful thinking, it's going to get messy but I could be wrong.
This is tangential at best but I’ve seen so many images of the event. There are so many “buff tough guys” there with their reflective sunglasses, their macho bouncer/“don’t mess with me” stance who clearly were “security”. Were they just hired on spec? For a figure as controversial and incendiary, and wealthy - he could have had some top tier security and really should have. Yet for all the polo-busting biceps I’ve seen, I’m not sure anyone should be glowing with pride cashing that paycheck.
That's a face only the owner could be proud of.
