Love it. Cascadia now!

Only problem with this is the divide isn’t at the state level. It’s between urban and rural.

And like it or not we all need each other. Farmers need customers and people in cities need food. Rural people think they can survive on their own but good luck with that when the money stops coming in.

Money isn’t even the half of it. Modern agriculture requires so many other industrial inputs that they wouldn’t be able to grow enough food for themselves without it.

You mean the productive, smart states should finally shed the Republican rightwing hellholes?

[–] Ironfist79@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

She keeps saying this but how would it even work? No state is 100% red or 100% blue and moving millions of people around is never going to work.

Never. Handing over innocent people to the new confederacy would be a Trump-level betrayal.

I want the brainless right driven from power, never to return. Anything less is cowardice.

“They assassinated our nice guy who actually talked to them peacefully debating ideas,”

They? Wow, they're not even pretending to be tangential to the truth anymore.

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 11 points 21 hours ago

I also don’t know if encouraging the bailout of Pelosi’s attacker counts as “peacefully debating ideas”.

[–] orclev@lemmy.world 54 points 23 hours ago

Literally Republicans now.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 8 points 18 hours ago

I'm fine with it.

The Experiment is over, but the thing about experiments is you're supposed to take what you learned from it and do another.

Why, did America cheat on you with the local gym manager?

[–] TheJesusaurus@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Any rationale for why this one journalists death warrants civil war when the deaths of so many others don't seem to matter or nah?

[–] TheJesusaurus@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I was attempting to be exceedingly, exceedingly generous. To disguise the fact that it's quite apparent why this one matters more to these ghouls

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 10 hours ago

Ah, thank you. You did well.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 10 points 22 hours ago

Because he was young, white, Likable (to them), crazy about Christianity and crazy about guns. He was their messiah lol.

[–] harmbugler@piefed.social 10 points 23 hours ago

This one they can convince their base to blame the 'radical left', and so they can ratchet up the political violence. They are taking a dive like a professional football player.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

It’s ridiculous when you can’t even advocate for school children to be murdered anymore.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 13 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Archived link to article.

So what does "a peaceful national divorce" entail? Because that's article doesn't really elaborate on it.

Do they want to relocate anyone they deem to be the enemy to the West Coast and then 'build a wall' down the Rockies? That sounds closest to a national divorce to me. But I suspect their version would involve 'removing' people they dislike while ceding no territory.

[–] QuadDamage@kbin.earth 3 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

End result is probably going to turn coastal cities on the west coast into "autonomous republics" that are politically detached to the rest of the country.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Who is going to finance the flyover states then?

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

🤷‍♂️

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

I’ve always wondered what a city state solution would be like. Where cities over a million become their own state with full representation. I feel like that is the divorce we need.

[–] itsgroundhogdayagain@lemmy.ml 7 points 23 hours ago

Where do I sign?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 6 points 23 hours ago

Pro tip: You divorce "the left" and Magats are still going to be killing Magats. That's not going to solve your problem. LOL.

[–] LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 22 hours ago

She can die.

Good grief, how is it that she is now a side thought in my’this entire thing is off the rails’???? Like… ugh. The window has shifted so much it’s wild.

[–] QuadDamage@kbin.earth 1 points 18 hours ago

IMO balkanization is inevitable but a clean cut "national divorce" is wishful thinking, it's going to get messy but I could be wrong.

[–] fulcrummed@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

This is tangential at best but I’ve seen so many images of the event. There are so many “buff tough guys” there with their reflective sunglasses, their macho bouncer/“don’t mess with me” stance who clearly were “security”. Were they just hired on spec? For a figure as controversial and incendiary, and wealthy - he could have had some top tier security and really should have. Yet for all the polo-busting biceps I’ve seen, I’m not sure anyone should be glowing with pride cashing that paycheck.

That's a face only the owner could be proud of.
