Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Donald Trump now genuinely lives in a different reality, one in which neither grammar nor history nor the normal rules of human interaction now affect him. Also, he really is maniacally, unhealthily obsessive about the Nobel Prize. The Norwegian Nobel Committee, not the Norwegian government and certainly not the Danish government, determines the winner of that prize. Yet Trump now not only blames Norway for failing to give it to him, but is using it as a justification for an invasion of Greenland.

Think about where this is leading. One possibility, anticipated this morning by financial markets, is a damaging trade war. Another is an American military occupation of Greenland. Try to imagine it: The U.S. Marines arrive in Nuuk, the island’s capital. Perhaps they kill some Danes; perhaps some American soldiers die too. And then what? If the invaders were Russians, they would arrest all of the politicians, put gangsters in charge, shoot people on the street for speaking Danish, change school curricula, and carry out a fake referendum to rubber-stamp the conquest. Is that the American plan too? If not, then what is it? This would not be the occupation of Iraq, which was difficult enough. U.S. troops would need to force Greenlanders, citizens of a treaty ally, to become American against their will.

And now there's no message of the Epstein files in the comments. The files the president can release with the flick of his finger. Great job America.

Straw? Seems it's more like a bunch of sledgehammers that won't break the camel's back.

I'd be surprised if nobody was attempting to fubd a rebellion right now. But so far all I see is:

"Do something!"
"We're up against at least 3 militaries"
"Trump is gonna invade my country!"
"Okay, I need organization and funding"
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING KILL HIM NOW"

Like some sort of 3rd graders idea of how rebellions work. Everyone is down, its the how thats got all these small cells screwed

We have no meaningful leadership. The only mass actions I hear about are standing on streets holding signs, and "economic blackouts" that are short, distant, and ineffectual.

ffs the dems shut down the govt and i was like "oh cool cuz fascism right?" and they were "nah jk actually cuz healthcare!" and then rapidly caved with no concessions.

We need a Mamdani to say "if you can afford to skip work, please do so, and don't go back until the madness stops".

Did you hear we made Andy Biggs shit his pants? Called the cops and got us all removed or arrested? The real shit isn't posted to socials. People are finding where these people live.

Note that the article is appealing to the Republicans to stop Trump. Tells you all you need to know about the efficacy of the Democrats in opposition.

An excerpt from Hitler's Stalingrad Speech for reference:

Before we attacked Warsaw, I called for surrender five times, I was always refused. I asked that at least the women and children be sent out. Not even the officer bearing the flag of truce was received. Everything was refused, and only then did I decide to do what is permitted by every law of war.

Yes! This is absolutely the last one! After all, in the last 19 days of the current year, he's behaved as a totally sane and not-unhinged person, right?

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The 25th amendment should be immediately invoked and Trump removed.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Article 2 section 4 removes him and his entire cabinet instead

So this is, what, the 329th 'last straw'? (just a number I plucked out of the air - it's probably way higher) Fuck me I'm sick of people treating this dickhead with kid gloves while he and his cronies run rough-shod over every institution. Grow a fucking backbone, America.

[–] Darkness343@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Maybe the Americans were the evil Russians all along and the Russians are just soviets?

[–] Aaron_Davis@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

It should be, but will it be?

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

This guy is beyond the mental degradation required to do his job and needs to removed from office now.

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago

This won't change a thing.

How will Vance be any better? That thirsty little shit might continue the exact same set of projects.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 2 points 1 day ago

I think Vance will be more consistent thus not giving politicians excuses to "wait and see". Right now the main tactic to deal with Trump seams to be "don't do anything, maybe he will forget about it in a couple of weeks". Maybe with Vance they will be forced to act instead of hoping problems will be solved by his dementia.

He might be better in being harder for MAGA cultists to like. But I'm not sure how much they care about being liked, when they're talking about simply cancelling elections.

Unprecedented incompetence demands unprecedented removal. who's on our side? military used to be when i was in it back in the 80s. not sure anymore. hoping there are a few heros plotting before we have to witness the stupidest extinction event ever. there's a gold medal waiting. congress and scotus are compromised mostly. France drags out the guillotine quick.

[–] elvith@feddit.org 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

[...] and why do they have a “right of ownership” anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also.

Soooo... Trump can present all those documents when the settlers "bought" land from the native Americans? Or was it only, that some boats landed there hundreds of years ago?

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

None of the letter even matters to a fascist, it's all just words to distract and delay.

Might makes right is the only thing they understand.

The Atlantic - a fundamental part of The Last Straw consortium within the MSM, providing the vital straws that keep the hope alive, that the exploitation is about to stop increasing.

It will be the last news article that historians can find of the times before that massive nuclear war that annihilated half the globe happened.
